-- IR Compatability between Palms and Visors? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1997)

Question

I just tried to beam a prog to a palm III today with my visor del., but it seemed that they could not recognize each other's signals, so I could neither send nor receive beaming from the palm III. I really question about the compatability of the IR signals between palms and visors. Did anyone face the same problems before? I really wonder if visors can connect with palms through IR beaming, and could anyone answer my question?

I have had no problems beaming between a IIIx and a VDX.
This was something I was curious about also, so I had my buddy bring his IIIx over and we tested away without any problems.
Check and be sure both units have their beam receive enabled.

I have a friend with a palm III. We have been having sporadic problems beaming. We have nailed it down to FindHack. Every time he had it enabled, he couldn't get my beams. First thing to do in problems is check your hacks.

Question

i had checked that both of the palm III and visor were beam-receive-enabled. when i tried to beam to the palm III, the palm III kept showing the msg of waiting sender, and my visor just kept saying searching...
and when i tried to receive the beam from the palm III, my visor did not even recognize any signal.
i have also checked that the palmIII did not have any hacks installed, so i really wonder what the problems is.

sieg, make sure you're not overclocking with Afterburner, as that would change the beam rate.

I've IR'd between several different models of palms and my visor (business cards, etc.) without a problem. I have noticed that you have to leave some space between the two units for it to work.

I ran into that problem at first when I was transferring data from my old Palm III to my Visor. Seems I had the units too close together. When I moved them about 18" apart, they worked fine.
