Does anyone know of a way to quickly go to the front of a line? Like "home" works in most PC programs? I seem to have trouble pointing at the front of the line with the stylus-- I get the space after the first letter, or I get the first letter, selected. It seems hard to hit just the right spot and it would be nice to have some sort of command that would do it.

I have found this is an art... one that I'm not very good at either. Getting the tip of the stylus at the beginning of a line is pretty tough. It can be done with much practice, but you'd better figure on missing it at least 50% of the time.

When all else fails, I just re-input the first letter and then select to the left of it and backspace.

I don't know how to do a 'home' keystroke but you can use the stroke to move to the point before the previous character. Just make a horizontal left-right stroke combination. (That's a left stroke followed by a right stroke without lifting the stylus from the graphiti area.)

You're right, davis689, there are Graffiti strokes for:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Move Cursor Right - horizontal stroke from Left-to-Right-to-Left without lifting
<LI>Move Cursor Left - horizontal stroke Right-to-Left-to-Right without lifting
</UL>
(see page 33 of the Visor User's Guide included on the Handspring CD)

There does not, however, appear to be a Home, End, Up, or Down stroke. According to the manual there is a Next Field and Previous Field stroke that work in Address book only.

Actually, the next field and previous field strokes work in at least some other applications besides Address book. I use them in ThinkDB for one.

About half the time I try to use the left-right-left maneuver, I end up erasing the letter I am trying to get in front of! Maybe it's because I have a Write Right on the screen, which seems to require a great deal of pressure to register grafitti strokes.

Sounds like no one has an answer. I had hoped that I had just missed something. Drat.

It takes LOTS of practice... I now only erase about 25% of the time.

I use this trick sometimes, and it works pretty well for me:

Use your stylus to highlight from RIGHT-TO-LEFT the line in question. It doesn't matter where you start -- just sort of land your stylus in the middle of the line and drag left until you hit the edge. This automatically stops at the left edge (home) of the line, so it's a nice start.

Now, make the LEFT graffiti character (that is, the left and right horizonal line as described in previous posts in this thread). This will UNSELECT the selected text AND leave the cursor at the beginning of the line.

Consequently, a RIGHT graffiti character will UNSELECT and leave the cursor at the sned of the selected blcok.

It's also worthy to note that this works for any selected area -- you can UNSELECT and be at the beginning/end of the selected area by using the LEFT/RIGHT graffiti strokes, respectively. it's just handy that dragging a selection to the left is a heck of a lot easier than trying to land your stylus on the left edge of the first character in the line!

Thanks for the tip, but I can't get it to work. I understand how it SHOULD work. But it doesn't. Perhaps because I have the hack installed that toggles capital letters. Still searching!
