-- Beaming AMX file erases data? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=780)
I just had a "friend" accidentally erase all my data. I wasn't watching carefully but here's what I think happened. Can anyone explain this?
1) He was trying to beam me a file using beam box. Which we have done before.
2) He accidentally sent me the file AMX (his was 2.x)He has a palm iiie (I don't know why)
3) Suddenly all data and apps were gone as if a hard reset had happened, but he had no paper clip handy and doesn't know how to do a hard reset.
4) Luckily, I had 99% already backed up with backup buddy and just restored when I got home. I just looked up the file AMX on my visor and it is AMX 1.0, which is strange although I have no idea what this file is. Anyone know whats up?
I'm curious about this file as well. Any developers out there who know what it does or at least what it means?
I went to PalmGear and searched for "AMX" and found it mentioned in a review on the Visor. It seemed to create sync problems for the writer as well, though not of the same type.
I think AMX is part of the kernel on which the Palm OS runs.
