call me an idiot, whatever..
i go into datebook, pick a time, say 5 minutes from now, clik on details, click on the alarm tab, some window pops up that says 5 minutes...and i hit ok..
now i wait till the time happens, but no alarm chimes!!
i checked preferences, and alarm is on high.
any solutions?

put a check in the alarm box. the blank for a number with a minutes/hours/days dropdown sets how long before the actual event the alarm should go off. example - it's now 2:30. i set an alarm for a 2:40 event. i put 5 minutes in that poorly documented field. at 2:35, the alarm goes off. hope this is helpful.

I personally highly recommend BigClock... it is freeware and is a very nicely done application.

In addition to showing the time in big type, it allows you to set multiple alarms with varying alarm sounds and properties.

BigClock also includes stopwatch and countdown functions and to top it all off, it is freeware.

I find it very handy because I have set up some recurring alarms that don't clutter my datebook and don't get synchronized onto my wife's Visor.
