Question

Has anyone thought of and/or tried a Rain-X or Hard Surface Protectant type screen coating on their Palm/Visor? For those unfamiliar with these products, they are (generally) automotive glass treatments that smooth out the glass surface. Practical use would be on a windshield, eliminating the need for wipers to remove water.

I was just thinking that these products would greatly smooth the writing surface, and as a side benefit, may increase water resistance, as they cause water to simply bead up and roll off instead of seeping under the case edge.

I could try one of them when I get my Visor, but I'm a fraidy-cat...

I might worry about screen streaking and compatability. The visor screen is not a hard surface, and is not glass. I would hate to see my precious screen screwed that way. Plus, if it does work, you need to watch for screen streaking. With a winshield, you have a large flat surface, with large flat blades going across it. Less pressure on the point. With the visor screen, you have the stylus hitting right on a point, and it might streak. Applying new rainx might alleviate this, but it just starts a downward spiral...

Ahh, I forgot that the screen is not hard glass on the surface. Bad idea, as you said. Thanks for the reminder.

Avoid using the rain x on anything other than glass. Rain x can fog/cloud some synthetic materials. I think Lexan, specifically, was the most prone to fogging up.
