-- Visors sold answer??? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1202)
So i read through the S-1 file that James links to and to make a long story short, revenue for Handspring from October 1st,1999 to January 1st, 2000 was approx. 15.8 million. At $250 for the deluxe visor that translates into approx. 63000 visor deluxes sold. I know they didn't ONLY sell visor deluxes and I'm going to also make a bold assumption in saying that they've probably matched that in the last 3 months (sales from Jan. 1st to now = Oct.1st to Dec. 31, 1999) So assuming those two factors, i'd make a guess of approx. 80,000 - 100,000 visors out there plus accessories?
Not bad. And there are only 3000+ people on this site, eh? I guess all those people that say the rant posts on here don't represent the majority are right!
Hoser:
I am pretty sure that Handspring have sold a lot more visors that. if you were to look at the order numbers (October - Now), You would see that they have sold about 150,000+/- 5,000. I am really surprise at the revenue figures though.
I'm waiting for my visor. I ordered it last week and the 1st part of the order # is the date, the second part is 158***. it makes me wonder if that is how many visors have been sold: 158k (or maybe just how many orders have been placed, which could be a greater or lesser #).

With all the hype at the launch of the Visor and then all the following bad press because of the shipping problems, I wouldn't be surprized if revenues and units shipped dropped in 2000 Q1. Things should pick up when the avarage Joe can just pick one up at the local OfficeMax, however I am not sure if there is enough name recognition for him to go for the Visor before a Palm.
Also on the front of maybe 68,000 Visors sold and only 3000+ VC members. If you look at Palmgear and check out the top 50 apps downloaded all time - No.1 is Launcher III at with 159,000 so does that mean there are 4.75 million people running around with Palms that have never downlaoded a three party app? Makes you think.
We are by far not reprenative of the average Palm or Visor user.
