I got one of those door slips too. I called Airborne's 800 number and asked them to hold it at the terminal and I would pick it up the next day. Real easy. Just remember to bring ID with you.

I got mine yesterday and played with it a little bit. When I got my verizon phone, before I activated it, it would ask me for a credit card to complete the call. With this thing, it acted like every phone number is the world was busy - a little misleading. It looks really cool, but I don't know if it is worth switching from Verizon to Sprint and the tech help from hell. The visor phone really intrigued me when the Visor first came out. Now I have one (kinda). I will probably just bask in the warm fuzzy of owning one for a while.

Phew! Picked it up at the apartment on my lunch break.

I'm checking it out now... looks nice. I think I may just jump right in and switch my service over from my current phone to the Digital Link - I can switch back if I find that it's not worth it. But from checking out the features so far, it looks to be worth it. :-)

AOL IM client for free

I bought a cable to connect my Motorola StarTac to my Visor Pro a while back. I was able to download a free AOL IM client I use on my Visor Pro. I believe I got it directly from AOL IM's download page.

Kid in a candy store

you sound like a kid in a candy store. Have fun exploring. I tried the system but my wife did not like the overall size and since we are cheap and only have one cell phone...she won out and we returned the service to her old phone. (much smaller old phone) I loved the ability to hotsync, avantgo, cell phone....and the list went on and on. Have fun playing and let me know more as you learn about it. Maybe someday, when I am rich, I can reactivate and play some more.

The real question about the digital link is: Will sprint upgrade it to 3g? The answer appears to be no but maybe with a free give away enough people will wait it to make Sprint release an update.

I wanted the digital link for work. I wanted to be able to access my work e-mail while on the road and the digital link worked like a charm. Now if I could just get my work to spring for the cell plan I would be in business....but I need a few more job titles before they will be heading down that road.

Sprint still selling

I poked around the Sprint web page to see what they had for support (after reading the no-3G-upgrade-woes thread) and found that Sprint is still selling the DL for $250.

Which PCS Plan

My DL will arrive on Monday. I'm excited! Just curious... For those that activated their unit, which SprintPCS Plan did you choose? I would really like to have unlimited data minutes with my plan. Is that an option with non-PCSVision plans?

The wife and I signed up for the basic $30 plan. 300 anytime minutes and unlimited nights & weekends. Nights are 9 pm to 7 am. As we work late and are usually home during the day the plan works for us. Also, we got the unlimited PCS to PCS calling so we can call each other if we have to during the day without eating up our minutes.

We also added the Wireless Web for $5 a month. Apparently, you don't NEED that part of the plan but you get charged an arm and a leg if you don't have it (according to my wife who double checked with Sprint after we were activated.)

So far, we're happy with the service. Phone call quality can be a bit sporatic but calls are fairly clear even with only 1 or 2 bars of signal. I called a friend tonight while I had all 4 bars and the sound quality on both ends was excellent. Your mileage may vary.

I can confirm that one does not need Wireless Web to physically connect to the Internet, but it costs a hideous forty cents per minute if you don't. While I could not find a place on the Sprint website to sign up for Wireless Web, if you go to the "email a question" section and inquire, the people who respond can sign you up.

As another data point, I called my wife when the phone only showed one bar of signal, and she thought it sounded more clear than when I use my office conventional phone.

After having mine for about a week, I went online and just happened to check my minute usage and was shocked to see that it was saying I'd used 329 "Casual Use PCS Wireless Web Minutes". 329 minutes?!? At $.40/minute, my account is gonna be in serious trouble. Since I wasn't dialing into the SprintPCS network and dialing directly to my ISP, I assumed that the time would just come off of my usual minutes.

That's the way my phone at home works...I'm not getting charged differently whether I'm using my phone for data or for voice. Why on earth would it even occur to me that SprintPCS would be any different? I figured the charge was to use their network and features.

I've emailed customer support with hopes of clarifying this. If this was clearly explained anywhere on their website or in the owner's manual, I wouldn't be in this situation. 329 "casual" minutes...yeah, I really felt like paying $150 for a feature I could get for $5.

I just swithed my old service to this one. Everything is OK. Except it does not have a speaker phone. Anyone have an idea about this?
