This is just sort of an FYI to the Mac-using Visor fanatics out there...I contacted customer service at both YadaYada (regarding their lack of Mac support) and OmniSky (regarding whether or not they would match YY's free modem offer). Here, now, are the results:

First, from Aaron Page of YadaYada:

quote:
Good day,

I have read your letter with great interest. I agree with you that we need to support the Mac. Also, we need to support the Windows based PDAs also.
These are both things that we are currently working on. The Mac service should be available in a realistically short period of time. I have heard that we are about to release our beta period on the Mac.
I will put your name on a list so that we may contact you once we do. If you have any other questions please contact me.
Thanks for your interest in out company.
Sincerely,
Aaron Page

This, to me, is good news - and since pretty much ALL of YY's users are beta testers, it doesn't bother me quite so much. Now, as for OmniSky:

quote:
Thank you for your message.
OmniSky does provide full Macintosh support for the software installation.
Currently, we are only offering $200 rebate with 6 months of continued service.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us at (800)860-5767 between 5 AM and 8 PM PDT, or by visiting our website at http://www.omnisky.com.
Thank you,
Neil
OmniSky Support

So no such luck there. But there's still a chance that those of us who Think Different may still be able to cash in on YY's free modem offer.

Smile Yada & Mac Support

I'm using the Yada Yada service with my PowerBook G3 without any problems, if you don't care for the Yada Yada Browser & e-mail client. The modem software is preinstalled (2 megs flash). I'm using Avant Go & Blazer for my browser. You can also download Browse-it. All these file are zipped, just use stuffIt. You can use Virtual PC to load the Yada Yada client software. Thats how I have the Yada Yada e-mail client installed. I have the Visor deluxe (with the RF upgrade) and the Platinum.
