Hello all-

I just bought a Handspring Visor to get all my college classes organized.

I'm really looking for a *thin* case for my Visor, so that it fits nicely into the front pocket of my jeans (ie, something that won't add much bulk to the Visor). What would be nice is a thin, metal case like the Titanium one Palm sells for its Palm V.

I noticed that Handspring sells "belt-clip". This would be great in adding some extra protection (and getting rid of the cumbersom cover). Can the belt clip be taken off?

If you are going to carry your Visor in your pants' pocket, why not just carry it "naked" with the screen facing your leg? BTW, if you go this route, be sure to use some form of screen protecting film, and don't carry other junk in that pocket (especially hard metallic objects like keys).

How about the snap cover?

I sometimes carry mine with just the hard cover that the unit came with (the one that snaps on). The slip case that comes with the Dx is okay for light use.

If you are a college student you probably want to be looking at back packs that can not only carry your books but also your visor in a side pocket. I am assuming that if you are taking classes you will be carrying books to these classes, therefore you will need some sort of backpack to carry all you stuff (including your visor, gotype, etc.)

E&B Slipper = good thin case

I'll go with James with the E&B Slipper. I wear a shirt and tie every day, and like to keep my visor in my shirt pocket, so I'm looking for "maximum thinness". The Slipper adds very little in size to the Visor, is great as far as functionality and protection, and even has a belt-clip option.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Let me know if you have any success.

Thanks for the help guys... I thought about just stashing my Visor in my backpack with my books, but I hate to do that. I wouldn't want to risk my Visor getting smashed, and its more convient to carry the Visor in my pocket.

BTW, everyone that's seen the Visor says, "Awesome! I wish I had one of those!"

The Cheap Bastard route

What I find works well for me is something that I ran across by accident. I used the snap-on hard cover for a while, and carried my visor in my front pocket, but I really didn't like how it would ride right on the biggest part of my thigh and stick out, or even start to turn on its side in some of my baggier pants, so I got the plastic belt holster. I liked the easy access and empty front pocket, but didn't always like the PDA geek look. Not to worry, a couple of months later, the clip broke, leaving two plastic eyelets on the back. I ran both ends of a black piece of string (nylon boot lace)through both eyelets toward the center and made a knot in the center. The string is just long enough to pass the visor and case through, allowing me to loop it over my belt.

It hangs just low enough that I can tuck it into my pocket without it wallowing around in the bottom and annoying me (about two inches or so below my belt.) I can also just let it hang and IMHO looks fine. As an added bonus, the string is also about the right length for a wrist strap.
