-- Stupid Question about Wireless Access. (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2547)
If I were able to go online with my VIsor and a wireless phone (via either the forthcoming SixPak, the hopefully forthcoming serial cable, or the perhaps forthcoming --to U.S.-- phones with IR capability) would I need to find an ISP that specifically allowed digital access? Or would the software, such as ProxiMail or ProxiNet, work with cell connections?
I know I'm missing something fundamental here. Please help.
Thanks.
I saw that AvantGo has an area with wireless content service - didn't look into it as the hardware & wireless network support are not here yet, but you might want to see what they offer at www.avantgo.com. And, hey, you know the line about the only stupid question...
You will probably need some more, indeed. Here's the problem:
If you connect via a digital phone, you need to get a converter for that phone (a cable from the six pack to the phone). Then, you need to contact your wireless provider and request wireless web access (sprint charge $9.99 for 30 minutes).
Keep this in mind when choosing a provider, if you don't already have one.
I just moved from my Visor Deluxe to the Palm IIIxe with a Minstrel III wireless modem. I can do both web surfing and PQAs (Palm VII applets).
It sure beats waiting for the springboards and whatnot...
If only the springboard sprung into availability... (sorry for the pun).
