-- Improving the FullCharge (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10569)

I just read the review of the FullCharge in anticipation of mine arriving any day now. I was a bit disappointed to hear that it couldn't be charged while in the cradle due to the ever-so-slight thickness of the charging plug.

I was wondering, though, if one could "notch" the charging cradle so that the charging plug could be set flush into the charging cradle.

Perhaps the idea could be taken further and some sort of "pin extension" could be added to the chargin plug and embedded IN the cradle with only the two pins exposed.

This would do 2 things. First, it would enable the Visor to rest completely in the cradle as it in inteded. Second, you could probably drop the Visor into the cradle and onto the protruding charging pins in one easy motion, rather than doing one after the other.

Any brave FullCharge owners want to try this?

Given that the hotsync pins go straight into the bottom of the Visor and the FullCharge pins go straight into the back of the Visor, I doubt that there is any modification that would allow insertion in a single swift move.

I'm not so sure.

My Visor rests in the cradle on contacts, but not with any pins actually sticking into receptacles. In fact, when I put my Visor in its cradle, I generall put it in an more of an upright angle, rest it on the contacts, and then recline it onto the locking tag.

I've watched this action and considering the short length of the pins, and the only slight change in angle necessary when "reclining it into the cradle", I believe it might be possible.

If you want to call almost 5/16" short... . The pins on the FullCharge Clip are a little too long to allow the "reclining" you describe.

Another problem is that the thickest part of the clip is approximately 3/16", while the locking "tab" on the cradle is under 1/8". The actual size difference isn't that much, but it's huge when considering the confines of the cradle.

Question

If I'm not mistaken, didn't the review state that Extend was working on an extension to allow the Visor to recharge while in the cradle?! I believe that it also said that Extend planned on shipping the extension to all users when it was perfected.

Since I ditched my craddle and bought a synch cable instead, I can synch, leave the visor in my case and recharge at the same time. Of course buying the cable cost an extra $20. The extend battery is quite nice I must say now that I no longer need to change battery once a week.

I just got my FullCharge on Saturday. I was thankful because for the past month, my Visor Deluxe has been demonstrating very high battery drain. Handpsring support has been VERY slow in getting back to me.

Now, though, I can recharge every night without worry.

Anyways, I can say that indeed the pins are quite long and it couldn't just slip into the cradle. Shame.
