So no new Visor now???

I take it PC Expo is over now and we don't have any announcements from Handspring. So now we must wait because I really don't see Handspring announcing a new Visor so soon after PC Expo especially since PC Expo was such a nice place for them to announce such a product.

They'll probably wait for around September when they've ALWAYS released a product in the past.

It is going to be 6/30 plus 30 days. Then they will announce the new color edge or prism edge or.. So that all those who have upgraded can not return their units and upgrade to a color edge.

Unhappy

The longer HandSpring waits, the further their marketshare will erode. HandSpring had better introduce a product that's clearly superior to both the Palm M505 and the Sony Color Cleo. Just offering a SpringBoard slot isn't good enough anymore!

Woah, I've heard of the Clie...but the Cleo! Does it have a thick jamaican accent and a tarot card app in the ROM?

Acts as a PIM, plays mp3s, and give you dating advise--all in a slim form factor with 320X320 rez.

I disagree. The Sony Clie appeals to folks liek us that want mp3 etc in a PDA. Most PDA users have no use for such things. I doubt that the folks at Handspring are losing any sleep over the introduction of the Sony Clie. Besides, Handspring always release the superior product in the end. When Palm came out with 256 8 bit color, Handspring up the ante and came out with a 16 bit 64,000 color unit. Wasn't the Visoe Deluxe the first 8 MB Palm OS on the market?

Posted by Matthew Nichols on 07-03-2001 07:24 AM:

I personally thought the Sony Clie appeals to people who wanted a high quality screen above all else, MP3 capabilities is only a feature of one of the new Clies remember.

I know Handspring has brought us the latest tech, the Visor Deluxe was one of if not the first Palm OS PDAs. The thing is, since then Handspring has brought this new technology at a gue price premium. The Prism launch as $120 more than the IIIc, which is way too high for the little features it added. The Edge launched at a higher price point than the Vx & for the same price as the m500, which was mroe technologically advanced (OS 4.0, Vibrating Alarm). The thing is, when the Visor Deluxe launched it wasn't just the 8mb and Springboard slot that sold it, it was the great price (I believe the 4mb IIIxe sold for $30 less than the Dlx). Handspring needs to return to then, when they were releasing superior products at very competitive prices (And not not some trade up program 2 months afterwards).
