When the Visor first came out, everyone complained about the cover. I agreed, thinking it awkward and pretty useless. Well, after doing some intensive research on cases, I came across a "novel" idea.

The problem with most of the cases out there is that they don't provide for needing access to the springboard section of the Visor. However, if you look at the cover, you'll see that when it snaps onto the front, it still allows for removal of the springboard insert that comes with the Visor.

I decided to make this my case by buying a swivel belt clip kit (used for cellular phones) at Radio Shack, attaching the it to the front cover, and using this to clip the visor onto my belt. It provides minimum bulk, freedom of movement, and is very secure. The only bad thing is that it does not give the Visor any padding, but weighed against the advantages, this isn't a concern for me.

This way, when the MP3 and/or "sixpak" springboard come out, I'll hopefully be able to access them while the unit is securely attached to my belt. So far, it's worked very well. Just thought I'd share my idea.

How secure is the cover to the case? In other words, will the cover "pop-off" letting the Visor fall with the cover still on your belt?

If it is secure, this is one of the best ideas I've heard yet!

I had a leather holster for a Palm. Didn't like the holster though because the top flap closed with velcro and opened backwards (to me anyway). Went down to the shoe repair store, had them cut off the belt loop and sew it onto the standard Visor case. Cost $4.00.
Looks and works great, and with easy finger access to Visor.

The great thing is, the cover acts as a shield for the visor from your body. Try it! Place the cover on the visor and imagine it next to your body. The only way to separate the Visor from the cover is to grab the *sides* of the Visor and *lifting* the clip top of the cover. It is hard to accidently mimic these two motions.

The Visor hasn't popped off yet and I don't think it will. Another great thing is that the swivel action allows a sort of displacement of force. If something, including your body, is pressing with a great deal of force, the Visor will swivel to the best position for absorbing this force. I oughta patent this method, because I think a number of people will decide it is one of the best "cases" out there.

Ok, I'll add my 2 cents.

I've used a Palm Pro for a very long time and have had many cases and screen covers. (I get to review them.) The one thing that keeps changing is the way I use the PDA. And every time I increase the use of the PDA, (soon to be a Visor), I find myself looking for more protection.

I started out with just a screen protector, then moved to a nice leather case, and now use a foam encapsulated case with a belt clip. I think that nthnsum's idea is ok for some, but after you have the Visor and drop it on the floor, or knock it off your desk, etc..., you will wish you had beter protection.

Yeah, I still remember the first time that I dropped it in the garrage and the battery door popped off and it bounced under my car...

Anyway, if you value the data in your Visor, you should spend a couple bucks and protect it.

Maybe you should start thinking of setting up a company that makes these special covers and/or conversion kits...

Did you glue the belt clip to the cover?

I don't think that your idea will work with the MP3 Player. If you look at the picture of the MP3 player on Innogear's web site it appears that the MP3 player actually extends all the way over the top of the visor. This would make snapping on the cover at the top of the Visor impossible. It looks like it should work with the sixpack though.

jsatter, you're right. My case won't work with Innogear's MP3 player. I thought the springboard would just extend over one side of the Visor, but it does extend over both sides. My bad...

ToolkiT, I did not glue the prong that slips into the belt clip to my cover. It comes with adhesive that seems to work very well. I haven't detected any give or separation so far. And, since the process is so simple and every Visor owner has the most important component (the cover), it'd be hard to make any money!

Can you sent met the brand name and model of the 'prong'

There's no radio shack here in amsterdam but maybe I can find it somewhere else..

I have tried a bunch of cases. Check out the soft pouches at optechusa.com . They bounce good too if you have kids like mine.

I just tried something different and I think it may work great. I simply used the soft slipcase that comes with the Visor Deluxe as a belt pouch. it works nice. it is soft and protective and obviously fits the visor perfect.

I tried it as a test with a large sized paper clip to see how it would feel being attached to the belt. Not bad. The paperclip actually holds it but I will not trust this for something permanent of course.

What I was thinking of doing is cutting two vertical slits in the case near the top. Just like any lock-blade type knife case has. Then you simply slip a belt through it and it would work perfect! Just maybe have to reinforce the holes with some glue or something, may or not be needed.

Could also try to simply attach one of those belt clips to the back of the padded case. Would be better than the front cover I would think.

I just have to get the courage to do it.. If someone else wants to try first, let me know how it goes and if it doesn�t don�t yell at me

I tried your idea and it works great! I always wished for such an easily accessable yet protected case for my Palm III but it wasn't possible. This way I've got easy access, protection, and the swivel!
