-- Where to shop for Palm/Visor stuff in Manhattan? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=521)
I am visiting Manhattan next week and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good store for Palm/Visor stuff.
Thanks,
Adam

Visor stuff? No. Handspring isn't going to be selling to stores until at least the first of the year. At least that was their plan but with the heavy demand via phone and web orders they would have to at least double their production rate to have enough for stores (Double their production rate? Not a bad idea in any case)
try DataVision on 5th Ave & 40th St. service is *okay*, and they seem to have a decent supply of 3COM/Palm supplies.
you might also want to try J and R Music World...
My recommendation would be J&R Music World on Park Row (across from City Hall). I just bought a Palm Vx and a hardcase from them yesterday, and from the looks of it, they were stocked to the hilt with IIIe's (the translucent ones too), IIIx's, V's, Vx's, and VII's. They also had a myriad of accesories and add-ons, some of which are hard to find (like the aforementioned Palm V hardcase). One thing to beware of though, they have an exchange only policy for ALL purchases, along with the standard 15% restocking fee for items exchanged for alternate merchandise.
AdamC is right. J&R -- Office World -- is pretty solid (see Charlie Issler when there).
There aren't any Visors or related items there, but they have the best selection of Palm and Palm-related stuff I've seen.
Also, RCS Computer on 57th and Madison is fair, including Dooney & Bourke cases and software. However, they're pricey and a tad snooty, as they prefer catering to fatcats and not people on a budget, a la Visorites.
I would definitely suggest dealing with Charlie @ J&R (Office World, on Park Row) as he'll talk to you straight. The other salespeople there are not the most trustworthy, but I've bought four Pilot/Palm units from Charlie and would get another when/if the situation arose.
Adam B -
I tried replying to your e-mail, but I kept getting a DNS error. In anycase, to get to J&R take the 4,5, or 6 train to the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop. J&R Office World is located across the street from City Hall on Park Row. They have the entire block, so you won't miss it. Just be sure to go to Office World, as the also have Computer World, Appliance World, and Music World - each store has a seperate enterance.
You can also take the 2 or the 3 train to Fulton Street. When you leave the station, walk up to Broadway and make a right (uptown). You will run into City Hall Park. J&R is across the street.
Hope this Helps.

Or the N/R trains to City Hall, walk across the newly-refurbished park (excellent...) and voila, as they say in the Netherlands...
BTW, I bought a second Palm V cradle at RCS Computer today, and they have a good selection of stuff. Mostly Palm products for the V/Vx and the related cases, etc., but they do have neoprene BodyGlove cases, which may work with the Visor.
They aren't a discounter, but at least they have a load of software and accessories, including the GoVox voice recorder and a load of other stuff as well. They also have WriteRight screen protectors and other extraneous stuff. They're at 57th Street and Madison Avenue (specifically, 575 Madison).
