I want to know if there are any other users that would be interested in a protocol analyzer Springboard for the Visor? The idea of doing remote captures and error statistics on your handheld and then bringing them back to your PC where they could be synced and analyzed appeals to me.

What types of features would you want included in a Springboard like this?

Protocol analyser. That'd be one way of getting me my serial port...

This sort of ties into my "geekpack" idea. half a dozen A/D and D/A convertors, another half dozen digital capture buffers and relay controls.

Why relay controls rather than digital out? Power. You don't want to eat up your Visor battery driving RS232 lines or Lego Technic motors...

But with this you could use your Visor as a "super RCX" in a Lego Mindstorms kit, run a softare UART for your serial I/O needs, do audio sampling, pocket oscilloscope, pocket voltmeter, and so on.

I envision a relatively small springboard module without anything sticking out of the case (look at the Innogear MP3 player... imagine putting THAT in a leather case!) and a VHD connector that you can plug lead sets into.

Like a Fluke meter on a palm? Can you do that? I'd buy it in a sec. I love those things but they're out of my budget range. Sniffing packets would be nice (though this gets to be less useful with switched Ethernet), but something that would do cable testing (e.g. Cat 5 compliance, line break test, discover traffic, ping servers, etc) would be great. I doubt a little Palm device could do this though. If it could then why does Fluke charge $000's for their toys?
