Angry Impatiently waiting for my Visor Edge

Hey y'all -- I just bought a Visor Edge from the Handspring website last week while the trade-up was still available and I've been waiting for some word from Handspring that it was shipped. I haven't heard anything! I checked my order status and it says "Awaiting Shipment" -- well, what are they waiting for? They said the Edge I ordered and the aluminum case were in stock. So what's the delay? Is the new owner of my old Handspring supposed to register their device first? Is there anyone out there that took advantage of the trade up deal by placing their order last week and has received their new Edge?

You don't have to wait for the new owner to register. I ordered mine on the 21st and got it on the 28th. If I remember correctly, my order status was "Shipped" within 24 hours.

Give HS a call. Either there's a backlog or the order didn't get processed right.

Would it help if I said it'll be worth the wait?

I'm in the same position as you. I called Handspring today to find out what the deal was. Evidently Handspring did some upgrading of their software over the weekend which caused our orders not to be processed like they should have been. I even paid an extra 13 bucks to have it expressed! The rep told me she would FedEx my Edge to me, so hopefully if all goes well i should have my mine to me today! I only hope the wait is worth it! Make sure and call!!!!

Well, I talked to Cutomer Care this afternoon and they told me that the blue and red Visor Edges were on backorder and that they recently made some changes to their processing and shipping, so there's a bit of confusion delaying orders (just like you said, hlbiii). However, she told me after some searching that my blue Visor Edge shipped yesterday around 11am and that I could get it as early as today or as late as Monday since I spent the extra $13 for express shipping, too (don't you just hate it when you go to the extra expense and you end up getting jipped because of a holiday or weekend?). However, my online credit card balance has yet to register the charge. Since she couldn't actually give me a tracking number, I'm not sure if she was just telling me something I wanted to hear or if it was the truth. Only time will tell!

I'm in the exact same boat.

I ordered my edge on the 20th of june and I waited a full 2 weeks before it arrived. The wait was painfully slow and uninformed cause it was a canadian shipment and it took a week just to get to the border!

But it arrived and I'm somewhat happy now... I find that it's growing on me. Only complain was that the visor edge flip cover was bend inwards slightly (but i 'fixed' that). =)

All in all, I saved ~190 CAD dollars if i bought the edge at a local b&m retailer.

Does anyone know exactly what the last date to use the 30 moneyback guarentee? if it's 30 days from shipping, I was gipped a ful 15 days.. THAT sucks..

I too ordered an Edge last week, paid for the 'Express' shipping and when checking the status of my order (For 5 days now) it reports "Awaiting Shipment" When I call customer support they tell me, as well, it is a "systems issue" So why does Handspring throw out this great offer for trade-ins, then decide to overhaul their shipping/software programs ??? Slowing delivery of their products, not sending accurate updates to their customers etc...... I hope handspring understands how far current and honest information goes with customers. And as for "Awaiting Shipment" I think it should read....."Awaiting Handspring"

But........I can wait, I have a VD now and love it, hope the Edge is as solid.

Angry An interesting twist

Alright - so I had nothing better to do this afternoon. I called Customer Care again, informed them that I heard my Visor had been shipped on Thursday, and that I would like my tracking number. Well, they gave me my tracking number -- only when I went to the Fedex website to find out where it was it didn't register anything! Although it was a valid Fedex tracking number, there was no posted information. Being a bit concerned, I called Fedex and asked them what was the deal. They told me that if the package had in fact been picked up yesterday, then there should have been some information associated with the tracking number. So I called Handspring again, mentioned this discrepancy and politely asked if we could work together to figure out what was going on -- especially since even now my bank account does not record the Visor Edge purchase. The nice Customer Care woman then suggested that I call again late Monday if I did not receive my Edge by Monday.

Now that I've calmed down a little, I realize I might be expecting a lot. I mean, there's a lot of possible explanations for why neither my online bank statement and the Fedex tracking code do not corroborate what Handspring is telling me. After all, Handspring doesn't charge your credit card until they ship it, and it usually takes 24-36 hours for transactions to appear on my online statement. What's more, the Fedex number may not have information yet because they haven't updated there database yet either -- maybe it takes 24-36 hours for information to show up on their website, too.

One thing I know for sure, though. I'll never order anything online the week before or during the week of a national holiday again.

I just got off the phone with HS. Was told their tracking system was still down but that a shipment of Red Edges came in on Friday. Won't ship from them until Monday because the warehouse folks don't work until then. They will ship from somewhere in Kentucky.

Fortunately, I didn't pay extra for express shipping.

Arrow Sometimes

Sometimes the shipping companies takes a few days to scan the package into their system. Sometimes a package even arrived before it shows up on the web site...or marked as shipped on Handspring's site.

Side Note:

I thought that the Visor Edge was not selling. If the Edge was not selling, how comes they were on backorder? hmm...

Smile Hang in there

I ordered my Blue Edge Monday, June 18th and received it the 25th. There was no order info until Thursday the 21st. I was told by one of the customer svc people that I had ordered it at the right time because apparently A LOT of orders had been placed, particularly for red and blue (red was backordered at the time).
It was well worth the wait. It's speedy, the screen is great and it feels like a good solid pda. I'm sure you will be just as pleased when you get yours

Talking new edge

I ordered my Visor Edge on June 30 and the website told me it shipped yesterday, July 6th. UPS tracking states it is in transit. I was pretty close to calling Handspring, though.

Still waiting...

I ordered a Red one on June 30th. Still waiting...

Called yesterday, again. Said it probably got shipped yesterday but to call back tonight to get the tracking number since their computer tracking system only updates every couple of days.

Hope this isn't an indication of things to come. Ya know, with all the bad Edges that got shipped earlier.

Like the rest of you, I've heard the same stories from HS. Luckily, I spoke with a great cust service person who shipped my order fed-ex and credited my express shipping fee. I ordered on June 29th, and ended up getting it July 9th.

The story continues....

I used the Edge for about 5 hours on July 9th, and the damn thing broke. I had fatal errors when using any SB module. Everything worked except using SB modules. So at 6:55pm PST on July 9th I called tech support (tech support closes at 7:00pm). They issued me a new unit and said it would be here no later then Thursday, July 12th. Low and behold, Airborne brings me the new unit July 10th @ 10:00am.

So now I have a new unit, and everything "seems" ok.

Actually both my orders were Airborne Express, the new order and the replacement order. I think I was just lucky with the CS rep I got. She took care of everything. The first rep I talked to basically told me the orders were backordered. When I called 2 days later, the good rep explained the situation, credited me the $13 for express shipping and told me the unit would be there the next afternoon. She was right and did a great job. After reading about everyone's problems here, I only wish I could remember her name so I could call her back to thank her for all her help.

Surpise!

Well........My edge finally arrived. Funny though that when I checked the status online it still reported "Awaiting Shipment" and when talking with customer support on 7/9 they told me it would be shipping on 7/10.....yet it arrived on 7/10 ?? Guess nobody REALLY knows what is going on......just glad to have my new Visor.

Have used it a little and no probs so far.

Finally received my Red Edge on Friday the 13th. Hope this it isn't cursed or something. Anyone have any ideas on how best to put it through its paces to make sure it isn't one of the bad ones.
