Dumb question: Mail app
Hi,
My friend (yes, really, it's not me!) has been syncing his device and his mail with it. He's just now figured out how to stop syncing mail, but he has over 500 message in his handheld now.
Is there an easy way on the Palm OS to "select all". I don't see anything in the app that does this. Right now, it seems he has to individually delete all 500 messages, instead of just one fell swoop.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-cj
Your friend could delete the MailDB. That would definitely do it. Of course, I think that might also delete his preferences and so on for his mail, but that might be fine since he's not sinc'ing it any more.

The easiest way is to involve HotSync. Here's how and he will have to be careful on this:
1) On his desktop mail program, move (I said, m-o-v-e) the contents of the Inbox folder to another mailbox folder. Create a temporary mail folder if necessary. This, in effect, "empties" the desktop Inbox with respect to his Visor-- nothing's in the desktop inbox.
2) Next, tell your friend to temporarily reconfigure his mail conduit HotSync action to have the "Desktop Overwrite Handled".
3) Now: Sync.
Since both the Palm-developed mail conduit and built-in Mail app are pretty much KISS; and since there's "nothing" in his desktop E-Mail program's inbox, when he does the above, there will be nothing in his Visor Mail app's inbox.
And since the built-in mail app doesn't support additional folders, it won't know about that temporary mail folder he created to save his desktop Inbox messages. If all goes well, tell him to:
4) Set the mail conduit -back- to "Do Nothing" (or whatever he did to disable mail sync).
5) Move his messages from the temp mail folder back into his Inbox.
That worked just fine... thanks for your help!
