Obviously, the Prism uses a different cradle than the Deluxe/Platinum... the difference is the shape of the back of the unit being the biggest reason, and the charging being another.

Several have stated that the Deluxe can use the Prism cradle for syncing... hence my question: the Prism does not appear to have the locking tab on the cradle like the Deluxe does; what holds it in place in the cradle? Is it a gravity fit or is there some other means of holding it in there? Also, does the Deluxe need to be held down in the Prism cradle while syncing?

Just curious here...

Thumbs up

I use the Prism cradle for synching my Deluxe.

The Prism is held in place in the cradle by its curved back.

The Deluxe is held in the cradle by gravity and the front lip prevents it tipping back. You can press the power and app buttons and use a stylus on the screen without it coming out of the cradle. If you press hard on the buttons, it will rock slightly in the cradle. You do not need to hold it down or hold it in a particular position in the cradle -- you just "drop" it into the Prism cradle.

I think it's a great solution while I decided what to do with my Deluxe.

My wife just purchased a Visor Deluxe and I have tested Syncing the Deluxe in the Prism Cradle. This does work.

However, I hope someone can answer me this. Would it eventually damage the Deluxe, since once of the "pins" in the Prism Cradle is sending power through it? Seems like it would not be good for the Deluxe at all.

If not, can someone perhaps explain why?

Thank you.

It's not exactly the pin. It is the source of the power that should be the concern. There is potential long term damage. The precaution would be to remove the AC adapter connection from the cradle when syncing the deluxe.

The charging pin on the Deluxe is routed to the Springboard slot (for rechargeable modules) and is not used internally. While I guess there could be some risk of damage (shorts, surges, etc), overall I'd say the chances are very small.

Your risk of damge would be the same wehater your using a Prism or a Deluxe. well, that's what I take it. As Mark said the pin is wired directly to the sb slot. the Prism taps into this line to charge it's battery..
