Please Help!

Everyone....please help me!

Just a week after i got my Prism in april, it was doing some weird things...

1) When the battery meter is at 62%, it would say that the batteries are low, and i should recharge it. Then when it was at 52%, it would say the batteries were extreamly low...and i should recharge it before i lose my data.

(if you want to know how i got the percentage....press the "scroll up" button then tap and hold on the battery)

2) After the "EXTREAMLY low" warning, my prism would just go off, then when i try to turn it on, the screen flickers, then goes off. I would have to press and hold the power button to get the screen working. Then right after that, the Prism wouldn't turn off, I would have to do a soft reset.

I e-mailed Handspring about it...they told me to do a Hard Reset...which i did...and it didn't work.

I've never had this problem with my Visor Dlx.
I have a Prism/VisorPhone Combo

Does anyone have any solution for this problem? Did anyone have this problem? Please help!

same thing

I also get the low battery warning at about 60%---but I usually don't get that low. A hard set didn't help me either, maybe someone else can help us.

I read one time on one of these boards about doing a reset while in the cradle to fix charging problems. You may want to do a search of threads about charging - I'm sure I have heard of similar issues before.

How did you upgrade?

When you moved to the Prism from your previous Visor, how did you move all your stuff? Did you just hotsync everything to the new device? Did you ever change the battery type on your old device (like tell it you were using rechargeables), or use some sort of a battery hack? If so, it's possible that those settings that were applicable on your previous device got transferred to your new device where they are no longer applicable...

Really, i didn't actually upgrade. I just started fresh, everything new, w/ a new Hotsync name.

E-mailed handspring again

i just e-mailed handspring again about the problem.... think they will help this time? I surely hope so.....

Update....Here is what they said....

"Thank you for contacting Handspring Technical Support. We understand that you are having problem with the battry on your Visor. We will provide you with a series of steps to resolve your issue. Please follow these steps:

Please allow the battery to drain completely and see if this resolve the problem. Perform another hard reset and leave the Visor Prism on at the screen that asks if you want to erase all data. Once the batteries are completely drained, recharge the unit again for about 90 minutes.

With a hard reset, all records and entries stored in your organizer are erased, and thus should only be performed if all other options have been exhausted.

*** An excellent illustration of a hard reset is found in your Visor Handheld User Guide. ***

To perform a regular hard reset:
Note: Visor Prism and Visor Edge users sometimes find their hard reset is more likely to succeed if they have placed their Visor in its recharge cradle for a few minutes.
1. Firmly hold down the power button on the front panel of the handheld.
2. While holding down the power button, use a stylus inserter pin or the tip of a paper clip (or similar object with a blunt tip) to press the reset button inside the hole labeled "Reset" on the back panel of your handheld. You should feel the inserter pin bounce back from the reset button.
3. When the Palm Computing Platform and logo appears on the screen, release the power button. Do not release it too soon, otherwise the hard reset will not proceed.
4. When the message appears on the handheld screen warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld, do one of the
following:
i. Press the upper half of the scroll button on the front panel of your Visor to complete the hard reset."
