-- phone line for italy (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12820)
hi, im going to Italy and would like to use my Visor...
i just got a Thinmodem, i guess i might need a special cord for the phone jack?
any info would be great!
thanks Laura
I think it depends on where you stay. If you stay at larger and newer hotels, they tend to have same phone connector as we use in the states. But if you find something different, you still can buy the adapter there, if you are visiting large cities. If not, check at the airport. They sell those adapters.
Good Luck!
Generally you'll find standard rj-12 telephone plugs.
It is however possible to find a tripolar plug (a big ugly thing resembling an English electrical plug),but you can find rj-12/tripolar adapters in every electrics store or supermarket in Italy so it's not a real problem.
(btw, an adapter costs about 2)
Anyway, if you can manage to rent a gsm phone with an infrared port you'll have no more need of a modem, gsm coverage in Italy is about 98%
