In the hopes that someone at Ideo reads this discussion board, is there anyone else out there like me who is staying away from the Eyemodule but would be willing to pay more for a product that takes pictures comparable to an old digital camera? What if the module were twice as big?

I would buy the current Eyemodule if it was half of its current price. Or if the capabilities of the current Eyemodule where about the same as a $140 digital camera.

The reason I am avoiding the eyemodule is because every picture I have seen looks blurry. Whats the point of taking a picture if it looks out of focus. I personally think the eyemodule shouldn't even have been released until this problem was fixed.

But if they can get this improved, I would serisously consider purchasing one.

One other thing I would like to see, is the use of a SmartMedia card (or equivalent), or even it's own 8mb chip, so I don't have use what space I have on my Visor.

Have any of you actally tried the Eyemodule, or seen it work??? It's a fantastic little piece of hardware if you ask me.

I definitely do NOT regret my Eyemodule purchase one bit. $150 is not a lot of money for what you get. Yes you probably could get a bottom of the line digital camera in the same price range, but the eyemodule is so small and easy to use. Who wants to lug around a digital camera everywhere. You can fit the Eyemodule in your shirt pocket.

The pictures aren't spectacular, but it's great to snap pictures anywhere and e-mail them to your friends or post on the web.

You're not going to win any contests with the pictures you take. So what. Visor owners need to understand that most Springboard modules are not going to stand up to similar stand-alone products.

Think about it. Do you really think handheld WAP web access is going to come close to what you can get on your desktop. I'm not expecting a Visor cell phone module to replace my Nokia phone. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Take it for what it is. I have this PDA that has some fantastic applications on it and guess what, it can take pictures too...

That's pretty damn cool if you ask me.

Don't wait for $100 Springboards to outperform and replace every electronic device you own. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

If the current Eyemodule were to drop below $100...I'd snatch one up. I realize it is more of a toy than camera, and can accept the current quality, provided it were a little cheaper.

Ideally, I'd like to see them try and boost the image resolution up to 640x480...though I realize that would quadruple the file sizes.

I bought the eyemodule a month ago and have been pleased with its capabilities. Sure, it doesn't give you 640x480 resolution, but if used in the right conditions (i.e. lots of light, no backlighting) you'll get decent pictures. I posted a few photos of my Basset hound at http://clubphoto.com. In the member albums sign-in, type in [email protected] to access the photo album.

Ok, I'll say it, the pictures look like crap. (Subject is ok). No eye module for me.

I agree with Fleabag......it isn't your fault...it's the eyemodule. For $150 I expect the pictures to at least be in focus...but they all look so blurry. I don't expect the eyemodule to outperform a $1000 camera....I understand the limitations....but I want something I can show someone. The pictures from the eyemodule look so bad, I wouldn't want to show friends or family.

I don't care how cool it looks.....if it doesn't perform the function it was designed for in a decent manner, what is the point?

I am not trying to start a war over the module, I just think the manufacturer has some issues to work out. If they can show me a new version that can take a clear picture for the same price, I am in. But for pictures of the current quality, I would maybe pay $30....as it is a novelty item at best.

As a professional photographer and Visor owner, I was originally very interested in the eyemodule, as I enjoy candid snapshots as much as anyone else. However, after seeing the dissappointing results from the camera, I will not be buying it until resolution, exposure control, and most of all image sharpness improves. Simple refinements to the camera, such as autofocus rather than fixed focus, automatic backlight compensation, increased resolution and user control would drastically improve the quality of pictures, and make it much more attractive to me.

I believe I heard somewhere that Kodak would eventually come out with a PalmPix version for the Springboard slot. Can anyone verify if this is the truth, or if my mind made it up?

I can verify that the rumor is floating around, I have heard the same thing. As for being able to tell you if it is actually in the works.....sorry....but I am hoping....

Don't get so caught up on the prices just yet. These things are just coming out so the prices are at the highest. In a year you will probably be buying this thing for $49.00. And a 16mb Visor for $179.

As an eyemodule owner, I have an opinion that probably is shared by other eyemodule owners.

I spent the money, I have the camera. It's not the best camera ever, but it takes pictures quickly and conveneiently.

It's also the only camera I will buy for the Visor - at least until (if?) it breaks. Why buy another? I already spent $150! IEDO was first in, they got my money. So be it. I'm onto other Springboards.

I am now convinced that the photos of the Loc Ness Monster were taken with an eyemodule.

Jeez, tdfellrath, the reason to buy a anouther springboard camera would be to have something that captures viewable images.
