-- leather case from Handspring (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3392)

Question

I have ordered the leather "wallet" from handspring but it is backordered. I have just a small question. Should I bother to wait for it? I see other units, made for the palm III series for about the same money, about the same size and available now. Seems silly to wait just to have the handspring logo on the cover. Is there any advantage to the Handspring case that perhaps is not readily apparent?

Yes....

the hand spring cases have a sewn in " atachment device" this is the same thig as the cover that every one seames to hate. I have one of the slim line cases and love the thing. I would wate for the oem product.

jbloodwo, you have the slim econo case? Is it fairly high quality, and does it match up to the slim case put out by 3com? Also, is it really slim? I hate having a case that adds so much bulk to my visor. I want to start carying my IVDx as a wallet, and thought that the slim case would work well. Thanks!

some of the posters here have said that the ecno case is a bit to bulcky. however, if you are acustomerd to carying a wallet in you front pocket, then it should be ok. the only minor complaint that I have is I am using the case as a wallet replacment and the spine of the slim line is a bit too thin. by the way, if you dnt put any cards into hte slim case it ads less than 1/4" to the thickness of the visor.

I have been using the Palm III series leather belt clip case and it is great. It hardly adds any bulk and I either put it in my inside breast pocket (suit jacket) or clip it onto my belt. There's a hard plate sewn into both the front and back to protect the screen. Only thing is that the Visor is longer than the Palm and the case doesn't close properly if you keep the Visor lid on (that oval thing on the top).

Thumbs up

I have the slimline econo case, and it's great. 3 credit card slots and a larger money pocket makes my VD my wallet, which means I won't be without my DL or my ATM card again... it's actually VERY slim, even loaded.

One problem I noted, with the credit card slots filled and money in the pocket, the front of the case is a bit too thick, and turns the Visor on when closed. I ran down a set of batteries in a week and a half before I noticed it. I installed a hack (StayOff) that requires two keys be pressed together to turn it on, and that fixed the problem. I have more errors now requiring soft resets, but haven't lost data because of them.

Hope this helps.

Question

Is there room for the Pentopia 2+1 or similar pen sized stylus in the Slim econo case?

I really hate the feel of the little stylus the Palm and Visor come with. I was spoiled by the nearly pen sized stylus I had with my Sharp Mobilon. Heck if there is room in the case I can use that stylus.
