Case of the year
Good choice on the case of the year. The leather Vaja cases are definitely very stylish and elegant. I have the snap version for the Platinum and just love it. Drew quite a few admiring looks from my coworkers too when I first got it.

I'm glad to see that the E&B Slipper Prism got at least a silver medal as well. When I had a dlx, I had one of the Incipio cases, and loved it, but I was upgrading to a Prism and had to go with a new case. I was considering both of these, the Vaja and teh E&B. I've had the Slipper long than my Prism, and love it.

Wordsmith: No kidding, great software. I'm still worried about them, though, as to whether they can compete with the pre-installed office suites out there. Sooner or later, piling on the features won't keep them ahead (there's only so much you can pack into a word processor, much less into 8 megs of RAM). I hope they manage to stay competitive.
I can't wait to see what wins visor of the year...

VisorPhone Vs. ThinModem+, huh?
That's a tough call. I probably would have gone the other way. The tight integration of the VPhone & its high quality software gives it the edge, IMO.

I agree here totally. It is a shame that VC not only does not mention the VFSHelper application and Kopsis but that it does not recognize it for an award unto itself. At the very least you should give them an honorable mention and tell users what they have done.
I am not affiliated in any way with Kopsis except I have been a beta tester and a big fan of Daves work since the early days. I have been around since the original waiting list for the first of the Visor Deluxes.
VC remember one MAJOR fact, Kopsis was the very first company to offer *any* type of CF adapter design and the software to back it up. Just because they offer basically just the software end is no reason to discount them. If it was not for Dave we may not even have the Memplug. It was this original adapter that started the shift toward CF readers for Visors. Dave also was one of the first to add VFS functionality to us Visor owners.
I DEMAND you give him some credit or I will come there and beat you with a wet noodle 8o)

While the MemPlug is a great product and certainly worthy of the Storage Module of the Year award, I really don't appreciate the implication that all other products are dead and burried. Why even give an honorable mention when the previous statement is implying that it's a dead end.
The fact of the matter is that Innopocket modules and other products based on the FlashAdapter software are selling strong worldwide and have thousands of satisfied users. Not to mention that there will be some exciting new FlashAdapter based product announcements in the coming weeks (if I can find a site that hasn't written us off as a lost cause to post them).

Ducker: The Memplug owns the market in the storage revolution for the Visor. It did this because it was affordable, full featured, and almost flush. Fast-forward six months and now the Memplug has VFS capabilities, better programs, and has changed the way I use my Visor; I'm sure that most people who have the Memplug would agree!

Not defending any one product, but Miradu made that comment regarding Storage module of the year, you guys are arguing the Filemover software in most cases - two different things.

The choice of the memplug as storage module of the year is not surprising, given the history of MemPlug love-ins that occur on VC from time to time. I wonder, though, how their software stacks up against the Beta VFS from Kopsis. As soon as it's released in official form, I'd like to see a head to head on VC. Or maybe a "dueling articles," since it seems that many people in both camps are fanatically devoted to their springboard.
I remember the flap a few months ago about this very issue. I was surpised to see a relative lack of, well, tact in the article. Oh well.
All that said, the memplug looks like a nice product. From looking at software help boards, however, I'm thinking that their software is somewhat inferior to the Kopsis VFS + 3rd party apps solution. The Memplug does a lot of things natively, but it does not do any of them as well as the individual 3rd party apps out there (from what I've heard: I've yet to plug a memplug in.).

A thought: Perhaps VC thought they ought not to take Beta software into consideration when choosing their winner. In that case, Memplug does beat the Innopocket hands down. It may beat it anyway.

Pehaps the hyperbole factor is a little high, but the comments that Michael Ducker made are in the form of opinion about the award winner.
Both the MemPlug and FlashPlus are great products. That is why you see them both on the award page. As it stands right now the MemPlug has a few more features, but Kopsis is by no means dead in the water -- heck it started the storage market for the Visor. The great thing about updatable modules is that new features can be added in the future. Look at the Thinmodem. There will be plenty of healthy competition.
I think a full-blown faceoff article is a great idea for a future article and will look into it.
Don't forget that the awards are not over. We may have a few surprises for you yet.

If they don't take beta into account, they should NOT take PiVFSMgr(Memplug's VFS software) into account also. It's in the beta also since it is not a complete VFS software.

Almost flush puts memplug over the top
Maybe memplug won because it is "almost flush" whereas FlashPlus IS flush. Reading the 'owns the market' statement and then the 'almost flush' had me rolling on the floor.
