Arrow No use for this

I have no use for this becuase I use a rechargeable unit. This announcement is somewhat anti-climactic.

Question Very Interesting, but dumb?

I currently use 4 sets of NiMH rechargables, so I'm never out of juice (well, almost never) and I'm not throwing money at the Stupid Pink Bunny..

I might be interested in this item IF I can still use my NiMH if the charging btty were to die (MiniJam eats bttys like candy) Also, does it supply a better/longer charge than regular rechargeables?

WHERE"S THE BEEF?!

Cool

I've always wondered, is it possible to build a rechargable battery into a Springboard module? The Visor can use its batteries to power the Springboard, but can it work the other way? And if so, why has nobody done it yet?

Nope, the Springboard interface can't supply power to the Visor... it's a one-way street.

Cool

Finally. Of course, the announcement comes on the same day I bought 2 sets of NiMH and a recharger...

Will this also recharge my Visorphone ?

And finally, what about a car charger ? I'd settle for one that just did the Vphone at this point.

I wish it would, but I don't think so; this supplies power directly to the batteries, while the Modules have to be powered through the hotsync connector, I think.

Unhappy

Pellico customer support responded to my query about charging the Visorphone as well as the VDX:

"Regarding charging the visor phone; it's not likely unless it draws power from the Visors batteries to charge. Charge-N-Run only charges the PDA's batteries at this time. "

Drat.

So it's not quite the Zen solution !

responses to questions

1) yes, you can still use rechargeable or disposable batteries after installing Charge-N-Run. That's one of the great features of this. Your device is not going to need replacing because your built-in rechargeable battery died and in a pinch, standard AAA's can be swapped in.

2) the eXtend system makes for a good portable charger and if you need something small for those very long road trips, it's a good choice.

3) VisorPhone: if the VisorPhone will charge via the charge pin on the cradle, a good combination would be Charge-N-Run for the PDA and InnoGear's Inno-Power Cradle. Together they would provide the "Zen" of charging for the Visor and VisorPhone user.

4) ChargeCard: notice the models supported (Pro, Prism, Edge) and you'll see they all have bolted in battery packs and charge via the cradles sync connector. The ChargeCard batteries will also charge via the cradle but it won't charge the Visor batteries.

Talking I don't get it!

I'm looking at my Platinum in its cradle, and I don't get it. How will this new charger fit onto an existing cradle so that the charging contacts can reach the battery cover?!

The standard Visor cradles for Solo, Dlx, Plat, extend well above the battery covers. So I guess this charger fits over the edge of the cradle so that the contacts reach the battery cover. But then, I would think that there wouldn't be room for the Visor to fit into the cradle properly.

All I can say, is "wow"! Great mechanical design, Pellico!!!

EDIT:
Oops, duh, idiot. I just looked at their web page and it's right there on the front page, clearly their plastics reach over the cradle and down to the battery cover area. Very nice design.
