transferring word files to an unknown comp
I am going travelling for a bit and wanted to know if it is possible to transfer just a single file to a computer without syncing the whole thing. IF anyone has any suggestions, I have downloaded fastwriter to do the writing and can probably install that on the comp, but I don't think I want to sync it all up to it. Any suggestions?
I think you would need Palm Desktop with the Hotsync manager. You could set all the options in the custom file to do nothing, except install programs. The word program you're using would probably have a conduit as well, you have to leave this on. Maybe this will help - not 100% sure if this is what you're asking.
It's really just a question of if I find a computer with an open usb port, what do I have to install on it, bare minimum for me to be able to transfer a single file. Do I need to install all of Palm Desktop? is there a way for me to send the file without doing anything else? I hope this makes it a bit clearer, any ideas?
In order to sync, you need to install the Palm Desktop software. This is where the HotSync manager and all of the associated drivers and basic conduits come from. There's no way, that I'm aware of, to do it any other way.

I think you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way: floppy disk.
You could try Zip disk as well, but be aware that while common Zip isn't on every computer in the land, while the 3.5" floppy is near omnipresent. (Apple's stupid "no-floppy" policy from 98 on notwithstanding.)
