I wonder if this means the flip lid actually attaches to the same slot that the
backpack springboard adapter does...

The silver one actually looks less appealing in these pictures. There seems to be some sort of rubber edging. I liked the silver better in the other pictures, but now I think I'd go with a blue if were getting one. Also the red doesn't look nearly as bad as the first red picture.

I actually like the idea of a thin rubber edge. It makes it stay in your hand much better. Have you ever held an HP Jornada? It's a bit heavy, but has a very satisfying and solid feel in your hand. I always thought that something like the Jornada PPC but slimmer and lighter would be very nice, and it looks like the edge is going to deliver on that.

Ah, a man after my own heart! That's exactly the reason why I'm rather pumped about the Edge. I was a Jornada owner, and frankly it was a trend setting design. It offered the sex appeal of the Palm V, with world class durability and rugged good looks. The Edge is the closest thing I've seen so far that matches, and perhaps even beats this category.

Needless to say, I'll take one!

I like it, but I think I'm too spoiled by color (even at 160x160), and will probably have to wait until they come out with an edge with a color screen...of course, this won't keep me from heading over to Best Buy/CompUSA/Fry's after work on Monday to see if I can get my hands on a demo unit.

I am pretty sure that the lid and the sled attaches to the same slot.

This decision has become torturous for me. My problem is that I've really felt the need to upgrade to color -- not for color per se but for the white background, which is become increasingly important now that the Visor/Stowaway combo has effectively replaced my laptop. The low contrast and useless backlight of the VDX induce too much eye strain in low-lighting environments.

But, the Edge comes along with its true shirt pocket form, metal case and lightweight body, and now I'm seriously thinking about getting yet another mono PDA. Aargh!
