sdoersam They will be the new Klingons. B&B said in an interview that if Roddenberry had had the money, he would have made the Klingons the way we know them today. I guess that reference in DS9's Trials and Tribulations is being pushed under the rug

The 'perfect' ending to the series...

I thought that the finale was the perfect summary of the whole series: fun for those who don't follow Star Trek or Voyager very closely, but full of the same irritations that die-hard fans have complained about throughout the series: little concern for continuity (the writers invented the Chakotay/Seven relationship out of thin air with practically no foreshadowing or development over the last season), too much time travel (forget Kirk, the temporal prime directive police should be hauling Janeway into a 29th century penal colony...plus, if queenie was right about killing Capt. Janeway to prevent Admiral Janeway from changing the past, wouldn't Voyager's getting home early without the loss of Seven and the insanity of Tuvok also prevent that Admiral Janeway from ever become so bitter and cynical that she would defy regulations and ethical considerations in order to change history?), too much time wasting (i.e. C/7 relationship) resulting in overly-rushed ending (how the heck did Voyager get into the sphere? did they plan this in advance? how about a little denouement?), over-reliance on technology and techno-babble as opposed to human ingenuity, etc... (can you tell that I'm a 'die-hard' fan?)

There was a shot of the Sphere closing in on Voyager, while opening it's airlock? doors? apeture? I didn't get the impression this was planned in advance, but rather an opportunity taken advantage of or near crisis that was averted. However, wasn't threre some mumbling early in the ep that Voyager wouldn't have survived the trip through the warp conduit?

Wow... I'm really surprised to see all this Voyager talk here. Personally, I thought that if the regular episodes could have been have as good as the finale, some of us wouldn't have been complaining for the last 7 years. I enjoyed it. Even though I too thought the C/7 relationship came out of thin air, I was starting to buy into it (but darn, couldn't they have given him a first name? Just Chakotay on the headstone?). I was crushed by the results of Tuvok's illness - he's always been my favorite. And somehow, I'm starting to think that Janeway's continual escape from the reprecusions of violating the Prime Directives (both of them) isn't a bad idea. It demonstrates that like the rest of the universe, Starfleet isn't as high and mighty as they would seem. By her getting away with it, Starfleet is condoning it.

Didn't anyone else realize that the finale was essentially the same as the one where just Chakotay and Harry made it back in the slipstream and then sent a message back in time to Seven years later?

And why do they always try to make Tuvok go crazy?

I did enjoy it, however.

There could be a queen in the future, more than one exist. That was explained in one Voyager episode after the last STNG movie (where that queen died). I doubt the Borg will be back for a while though, they are a bit over-used if you ask me.

It was a decent finale, but not great like STNG or DS9. Personally I don't believe it would happen the way it did, Janeway doesn't have it in her to change the timeline. Even if she decided to based on her "mistake" from the past she wouldn't have used technology from the future to aid her.

I didn't care for the Borg being in the finale. Another powerful adversary must exist somewhere in the ST universe. I guess it is a good thing Enterprise will take place before the Borg.

The best part of the entire show had to be B'Elanna's daughter! That's the hottest Klingon I've ever seen !

Well, this is an American TV Series and I guess the other countries of the world have to wait for the syndicated version but if we have to wait in our own country to discuss how a TV series turns out just because everyone else is a year behind........well excuseeeeeeeeeeeee us.


As much as I'd like to be accomodating, it would lose something for us Americans if we had to wait a year for posting our thoughts. Hey look at the bright side, you know how it turns out before the rest of the Aussies.


That's so sad that you have to wait for a year. Did you guys have to wait for the Olympics last year as well?

As a compromise - you have my permission to hold onto the episodes of "Xina Warrior Princess" for a year before airing them here in the states - heck you could hold on to them forever as far as I'm concerned. Oops, that's a New Zealand based production.

Seriously, in this day of satelites and optic fiber, we never considered that Australia wouldn't get the series in the same time line.....I guess that we just assumed that you see the same TV programs that we do in the same time frame. I wonder what TV programs do you have in Australia that are not shown here or perhaps a better question would be, How much of your TV programming is actually American production, on a percentage basis?

We get very little outside production. Most good ideas are stolen from other countries and use local production. The latest craze is "Weakest Link" which is a trivia game based upon a British format and we've even imported the British host for the American version. The rest of our programming on broadcast TV is original though. You want to see foreign programming you'd have to subscribe to something that I've never really seen widely available. But see, were still using low definition TV.

Oh well, stay off of this post if you don't want to know how Voyager ends........

Xena - thanks for correctly spelling - as you can tell I'm not a big fan of the show. Did it get cancelled? I'm not certain but I believe it is done. It definitely has lost a lot of following and if it's still on - the time slot has moved dramatically. Xena is a, IMHO, a well "written" version of WWF with the same weekly cast and a half-decent sci-fi story line.

I'm not a fan so I don't want to be too critical of the show with the reference to WWF so no flames please. At least with Xena, there is some good that comes out of that violence.

Voyager's ending was pretty true to the typical Star Trek story line. Some believable stuff and some no so believable stuff.

Enterprise - the new series set 100 years from now, alledgedly, will be interesting and I'm afraid more to the form of DS9 with the political overtones rather than the sci-fi stuff that I believe we'd both prefer. Only time will tell. But I'm not certain how interesting it will be to regress in technology on a show that has shown us tidbits of new stuff such as: transphasic photo torpedoes and armor instead of shields. To start a series shortly after the invention of Warp drive might leave me wanting.

I do believe though that we will see some more of the Voyager crew, at least some cameo appearances in the NG movies if not their own standalone movie. A DS9 movie would probably cause me to wait for the video.

The STNG movie is due out in November, I believe and that will reinvegerate me until the next Star Wars comes out in May of 2002.

I'm hoping STX will be more like First Contact. Insurrection really was pretty boring for me but I really liked First Contact and even own the DVD (very good sound for a DD5.1 mix).

I thought Insurrection was great, it was light hearted and quite unique. First Contact was good too, and besides Insurrection I didn't care for many of the other odd number movies.
