Unhappy Formatting CF card

Hello,

I know this doesn't sound like a Prism thing, but maybe other Prism users have similar experiences...

I'm using a MemPlug CF adapter, with 64MB Sandisk CF card on my Visor Prism and recently bought a card reader writer (Sitecom Multiple Reader Writer), to be able to backup, defrag or format the card.
The first time I experimented with formatting, I used the Windows 98 format tool on my PC to do this (My Computer, selected the station with the CF card and choosed Format from the File menu). I don't know if it was a coincidence, but after the format and copying the backup files back to the card, the first hotsync crashed....I reformatted again, this time using the PiDirect Preference option for that. Now the hotsync didn't crash...
Does anybody had similar experiences or an advise? Is it better to use the PiDirect format option, rather than the Windows format tool?
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance,
Lex

I am not sure about this, but I think you HAVE to use the card format tool on the handheld.

I KNOW you can use some of the PC disk utilities to defrag and scan it, but the one time I tried to format it with the PC tools it did me no good either.

Unhappy Answer from PiTech

Well,

I almost gave it up, but suddenly I received an answer on this subject from PiTech:

"Dear Lex,

Thanks for your email.
Please use PiMover / PiPref for formatting the memory card.

There currently is no way to move files to/from your memory card using your HotSync cradle or cable. The only way to move files from your card to your computer or vise versa is with a card reader. Additional software programs, such as BackupBuddy, have options to backup. the data stored on the MemPlug module itself, but it currently WILL NOT backup the data that is stored on your memory card at the same time. Besides, SyncWizard is capable to sync database directly to MemPlug's external memory card. But only support since v1.95 beta. Not the formal
release yet.

Please visit LaunchPlug http://www.launchplug.com for more information.

Best Regards,
PIT Support"

Well, it's clear I think. Maybe a future release of the reader/writer will have an option for this. For now, I'm just gonna use PiMover for this and only use Windows Explorer for backing up the files to my Desktop HD.
