For XP you need to have that 4.0.1
As for the controller, if the one you listed is for XP, then you're all set there.... I'll see if I can figure that one out.... I'll let you knwo if I come up with somehting

Angry XP finding new hardware

I'm having trouble with XP finding new hardware every time we try to hotsync on my wife's laptop too. No problems with the desktop but the laptop does. I'm downloading the latest desktop software from Handspring right now hoping that that will fix it. We're using a usb hub. Anyone have any other suggestions than trying the latest software?

You may be overloading the USB Hub with too many USB Perf's. Try hooking the visor directly to the laptop and see what happens.

If it's not a self-powered hub, chances are it's not providing enough power for the Visor. As MitzEclipse suggested, try it plugged directly into the USB port. If it works then the problem is most likely your hub.

Looks like the updated software worked. I can't repeat the problem now. THe hub has its own power so it seems to work okay. The only thing it has been unable to run so far is the floppy drive. Everything else (mouse, keyboard, printer, Visor, mp3 player...) works well on it too. Thanks for the suggestion - guess I should have waited until I had tried the software before posting.
