Do you recently notice that AvantGo's resolution on Prism is much higher. I think it's 16 bit color they promised. It makes my prism cooler.

Can't be -- to support 16-bit colour, you would have to install a new version over it. It won't support 16-bit colour otherwise as the current AvantGo app we have does not.

Exactly... maybe they made a change to the software on their proxy servers that enables better image compression.

On a related note, I recently read that the next version of the Palm Query App development kit will include support for 16-bit PQA's, which will be great for enhancing interfaces with color-encoding, etc.

I'm glad to hear they'll support 16-bit, I have a ton on my Prism but never really use them since I'd rather get it in color with browse-it. Once they release it in color I might even be willing to fork over the cash for the official solution rather than just loading the libraries from a Palm VII.

i think they do now...the main screen (with all your channels) has the AvantGo logo and the 'Add' and 'Remove' buttons in greyscale.

I don't subscribe to any channels with pictures so i'm not sure if the channels have the greyscale also.

I wish they'd drop that 2 meg limit...I got plenty of space and want more channels, but can't add them. Also, they stopped letting us control link depth on many channels which ticks me off a little. Now some of my channels download the sites from their ad banners too. Yuck!

Apparently, AvantGo is working on support for 16-bit color. They won't specify when it will be out, but I would expext to see it by the time the m505 is available.

set up a second avantgo account and sync to both of them. then in avantgo, look for 'Server Preferences' in the menu and you can select which avantgo account you want to view on your visor....i used to do this with 'reference' channels in on account and 'news/entertainment' in the other account.

but now i need the memory so i'm back to one account.

oh ya, did you uncheck the 'follow off site links' so that it doesn't download the banner ad sites? (i think that's what the check box is called....)

They stopped letting us end users modify some of the preferences on their "official" channels about a month ago: http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...ghlight=avantgo

My wife's has color?

I recently got my wife a prism after she drooled all over mine. When she set up Avant Go, she was able to get one of the channels, Yahoo!, in color. Granted it was only the Yahoo! title that was in color, but mine is still in grey. I tried Avant Go customer support, but have not yet heard from them. I tried deleting the channel and re-installing it, but that didn't work. Although this isn't a big deal, it still bothers me...

Any ideas?

Have you tried removing AvantGo entirely (mobilelink too) from your Prism and reinstalling it?

You could remove it from both, but if you run the installer again, it will replace what is already on your PC in addition to reinstalling the software on your handheld.

Thanks...good idea, but it didn't work. I deleted both Avant Go and Mobilelink, re-installed, but nothing changed. Any other ideas?

Remove the libmal file from the device too, that should be the problem.

Only to re-try what you did before, but in this order (from a previous thread):

1. Disable HoySync on PC

2. PC - Windows Add/Remove Programs:
- Remove Mobile Link
- Remove AvantGo

3. PC - Palm/Visor backup directory:
- Delete all AvantGo files
- Delete Mobile Link
- Delete libmal

4. Visor - Delete Menu:
- Delete AvantGo
- Delete Mobile Link
- Delete libmal

5. Bring HotSync back up, and sync Visor

6. Get latest version of AvantGo, and follow their normal directions for installing.

Actually, the problem is the "MBln" files -- they stay there even after you delete MobileLink and AvantGo from your Visor.

Look for these files (they will be there if you have previously had AvantGo) and delete them.

Reinstall AvantGo on the Visor and you will definitely see colour-enabled channels in colour.
