-- Magellan GPS - Great 73 Cent Accessory (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12486)

Thumbs up

I've had my unit for a week and really enjoy it. However, I was frustrated by not being able to use it (safely ;) while I was driving. The car accessory is not yet available for the Visor (and will likely cost more than $40). On a whim I went to my local Trak Auto and looked at their drink holders. They have a plastic unit that hangs off the window ledge for 69 cents (73 cents after tax). I said nah....what the heck. Guess what- It Works Great! The holder is a good size for the unit. It's open enough the all of the screen is visible. The unit lies at a comfortable angle, and the whole thing is quite stable in my Toyota Sienna Minivan. Give it a try.

Cool Still Worth The Price!

I still strongly endorse this accessory! I hope this picture is clear enough. I've used it on several extended trips and it continues to work great.

On a different note, I wish the magellan had long distance roadway maps to download. I often drive I-95 north from Virginia to NY. I don't need great detail, just major roads 2 miles on either side of the freeway.

Totally cool!

Actualy if you mean by "car accessory" the car adapter and visor holder, than they are out and have been out atleast since september (when I got my visor and GPS) if not before. But you are right that they cost about 40 dollars.

I don't see a Visor holder on the Magellan web site. Do you have a link to a photo of one? Where did you get yours?

I do not think there is a picture of the vehicle mount anywhere on the magellen gps web site. However, I got my vehicle mount at http://www.affordablegps.com/. It does cost $40. I hope this link work, it is the vehicle mount link at affordable gps: http://www.affordablegps.com/Mercha...uct_Code=701223 If it does not, the vehicle mount part # is 701223.

I got my car holder and power adapter by calling magellan at 1 (800) 669-4477 and requesting parts # 701223 for the "Vehicle Mounting Bracket", and Part # 730338 for the External Power Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter.

Hope this helps

BTW I don't have a picture to send you. But in the box that the GPS came in it had a picture of them all. And I can say that both work really well and are very high quality.

The photo does not show the Visor but it should work with the Visor/Magellan. I was looking for a holder for my HandyGPS.
