This is a forum I've wanted to see on VisorCentral. Share your tips and tricks here. I'll get the ball rolling with this one:

One writer complained that he couldn't look up a phone number on the Visor while driving without a doing lot of scrolling. I never use the stylus when looking up a phone number. I use the thumbnail of the hand that holds the Visor to draw the first couple of letters of the person's last name. If I have both hands free, I use the index fingernail of the opposite hand to do the same thing.

Any other tricks?

Here's my stupid Visor trick:

I tried writing with my Visor while walking in rush hour traffic, crossing roads and dodging cars. The trick was to write a review of the Visor without looking at the screen. With a little practice, I found I could do it without looking much at the screen and making only about two writing mistakes per sentence.

I should've been clearer: the point I was trying to make is that you don't have to use the stylus to look up information without scrolling. The fact that the writer mentioned driving (i.e. didn't have both hands free) was incidental; I should've left that part out. My apologies.

On the subject of driving, a Zen proverb comes to mind: "Whatever you do, do that." Lay off of the cell phones and Visors. A study showed that drivers on cell phones are just as dangerous drivers who are drunk.

Anyway, onward . . .

No state that I know of has passed a law prohibiting cell phone use while driveing. I believe 1 city in Ohio does have an ordinance against cell phone use while driving.

As for driving while using a Visor or cellphone. . . you would have to have one hand off the steering wheel (unless you have a hands free kit for the cell phone or a voice activated Visor). Yes, driving with one hand is not a big deal, unless you are in rush hour traffic and need to make a quick turn.

We're beating a dead horse with the car thing. Any constructive input relevant to the stated topic would be welcome.

I often use my finger nails instead of a stylus. Since I have short nails I have to pull back on the tip of my finger with my thumb, but it saves a couple of seconds if I just want to access some info real quick without pulling out a stylus.

I also use Big Clock to page me out of long meetings (I don't really need a real pager). I didn't come up with that one, a friend used to do that with her pager (she was a nurse)to ditch people.

I guess the first one is a technique, and the second is stupid and a trick so I guess it's a stupid Visor trick.

Has anybody used finger stylus? I have to use regular pen at work, and was looking for a pen/stylus on the net and found this. I wish they made this with clear plastic or something.... Would it pass as a ring if worn inverted

I have acrylic fingernails (i.e. fake). I often use the edge of one instead of a stylus. Maybe I should have my manicurist shape it appropriately!

Hey, I have a file in my Visor called "Directions." I have directions to all of my clients in there and often look the up while driving using the "finger" method!

If you're looking for somthing in the dark, like keys, use your Visor's backlight.

The funny thing about this driving thing is that I was driving through that one city, Brookpark, Ohio on my way to Hopkins airport and I saw a friend of mine in a car beside me and I couldn't remember her cell phone # and I had my visor handy. SO, you can only guess what I did. But I wouldn't recommend it. I have always been able to multi-task, but I probably won't try that again.

In all seriousness (not just to appease the car people) I was driving in my car not too long ago when I wanted to jot something down in my visor. Realizing that I couldn't do this because I was driving (wasn't that responsible of me?), it occurred to me that a speech to text spring board would be a great idea. A voice recorder would have worked too but then I'd have to re-enter my recorded speech into my visor at a later time. I want to be able to voice input data into me visor. Anyway, that's my idea for safe driving and hands-free visor use, what does everybody think?
