First post, seems like everyone has or are going to get the cradle usb/serial. I am wondering if anyone has or will get in the
future the cable which is ten dollars cheaper and able to lug it around. Are there drawbacks to using the cable. Can one use the cable on a desktop PC. Not much info is given on handspring website, and I emailed tech support to ask them but would really like to hear from users. Thanks.

Well, the cable doesn't support serial, so many users can't use it (I do have USB though, so it doesn't matter to me). Second, with the cradle, your visor actually holds itself, rather than having to clear off a spot on your desk to lay the visor down. It is slightly easier to set the visor into the cradle than to fidle with connecting a cable. Other than that, the cable is exactally the same.

PS--No matter what, they always send you a free USB cradle, so paying for a cable is really more expensive than using the cradle, since it comes anyway.
