Unhappy

I have added third-party applications twice and both times I ended up losing everything, first time it started running slow and sort-of cutting out - second time it just locked up completely. Handspring tells me yadda, yadda, only add one app at a time, to see which one causes the problem. I have been running smoothly for about 2 weeks now with just my default programs, but no games = no fun. Any ideas? The thought of never being able to have additional software does not sit well with me. Any body have a tried and true game that I could download and test?

Try BlockParty (tetris clone) and SFcave.

A good place to check out comments for software is palmgear.com. You can write reviews. And you can see others reviews and sometimes learn of problems, saving yourself grief. Palmgear also keeps track of the number of downloads, so if it's real popular, you can typically feel safe about it.

Zap!2000 works well for me. Also I haven't had a problem with dragon bane, solar wars, tank pilot, pool, nomess, or galax. I believe you, I had problems with a couple of games and software titles that I had to take off. So far no problem with these.

beth777wa,
Here's a list of all the games I have (or use to have) on my visor that worked peachy. I, or my son, have played them.

Ancient Red, Asteroids, Block Party, Boulderman, Dakota, Donkey Kung Jr., Eggyland, Face Painter, Gobble (Pac Man), Hardball, Invaders Loadrunner, Reptoids, Tank Pilot, domino!, checkers, Haiopeis (not really a game), Parking Lot, PocketChess, Tricorder (not a game- a silly time waster(but still on my Visor!)), WPM, and lastly I depend on Yoda to help me with those thorny issues that pop up all the time.

I have downloaded most of those games with the exception of the ones I got off the CD that came with O'Reillys' Palm Pilot The Ultimate Guide (by David Pogue) and some I got off the Aprill 2000 Maximum PC (a a magazine) CD. I have tried Red Mercurys' version of Breakout, but found that I couldn't see the ball very well.

Some of these work well off the 8mb flash module, others crash the Visor (Ancient Red, for example). Have fun!!
Michael
