Angry Default Launcher not Launching??

I recently had a run in with a bad set of rechargeable NiMH batteries (or maybe the charger but that's besides the point, I'm using alkalines from now on) and lost all my data. I figured all was fine and dandy, I'd just hot sync it and everything would be peachy. I hot synced it and all my data was restored but now it goes to a screen with black borders and the battery indication on the bottom. Apparently the default launcher is just another app. I learn something new every day. It's almost like it came unmapped from the Home button. When I do a hard reset before I restore the data I don't have this problem. Please tell me there's something else I can do other than dig out all my old programs. Please?

What usually causes this ancient Palm OS 1.0 launcher to rear its ugly little head is the deletion of a third-party launcher without it being deactivated first. If you had a third-party launcher before, try reinstalling it and activating, then deactivating it, then (if you want to) deleting it. Things should be back to normal. (When you do a hard reset, all is back to normal, then you HotSync and apparently either a DB or some prefs for another launcher get reinstalled, so the OS 1.0 launcher pops up again.)

Thanks! IR problems now...

That worked very well, I just installed Launcher III and then deactivated it. I'll get myself a copy of Silver Screen again at some point but now a new problem has cropped up. My Beam Send feature won't turn on. This makes it impossible for me to use my keyboard. I had BeamSync installed when my batteries died, and I've since uninstalled it. I'm thinking of renaming my backup folder, resetting my Visor, and restoring my backed up programs one at a time.

What model Visor? There seems to be a problem on the Neo where beaming is deactivated when NiMH batteries are specified.

It's a Deluxe, I have alkalines in there now. Haven't done anything with it yet, those prices on the Edges are mighty tempting

Ah hah! Got it! I had done a warm reset to try and get the launcher back and didn't realise that was "safe mode" (learned that parusing another post). I just did a soft reset and everything seems fine! Thanks a lot guys!
