Backlight no worky
Well I didn't see all the warning about the edge till after I ordered one with a stowaway, extra cradle and car charger.
Doh!
My brand new red edge is soooo cool, but the backlight no worky.
Everything works fine of course.
So now I'm wondering should I have Handspring replace it and risk getting a refurb (not that I think I can trust an edge now, new or not)?
Or, should I attempt to return all this crud and get my money back and go for a pro or a prism?
I'm so depressed now.

When I first received my edge the backlight did not work either and when I returned it to handspring from what I saw I received a new one. But it is a gamble you never know when you will receive a refurbished. I just experienced the whole refurb junk when I returned my prism for a replacement because of spots on the screen. I clearly got a refurb that was so obvious it was rediculous. What I would say is to get a prism return the whole lot. Atleast you know you will be getting a new model. Also color makes all the difference and the sled expansion thingy on the edge really %$#@ing sucks!!

You can't just return it to the store you purchased it at? I have never had any problems with my edge (knock on wood) and it's so far the best PDA that meets my needs.

The red Edges are only available through Handspring. So I can't just return it.
I asked handspring if the replacement would be new or refurb or if I can just return the whole order. Here is their great answer....
"We will be able to process a replacement for you."
Super clear answer.
Well, the good news is you will get it quicker than you can say 'refurb or brand new replacement' - Handspring is great about using ultra-overnight shipping (that they pay for)

I bought an Edge about a year ago. After some time the backlight failed. The replacement i got from Handspring also had a failing backlight.
The second replacement was ok and is still working fine.
Shipment from Handspring was free and very fast, within one week i had three Edges on my desk. Good service.
