MiniJam: I should have listened...

So after reading all the posts here, and the VC review, and the bad points about InnoGear, I still went ahead and sank $99 on a MiniJam.

Well, tomorrow I'm going back to Staples and returning it.

Why?
1) I really should have listened when people complained about Innogear on this board. I put in the software CD that comes with the module. I navigate my way to where MusicMatch for Mac should be, and all that's there is a ReadMe - explaining that the INTENDED contents of the folder are the MusicMatch software (available for download) and The MM MiniJam Plugin, due soon. So I download and install MusicMatch, and I try to follow the directions for installing the plug-in, but naturally, the instructions don't match what's on the screen. I call InnoGear tech support - they tell me that the plug-in was never developed, and never will be, and he didn't think there were any plug-ins for other Mac MP3 suites like iTunes or SoundJam. So that's another thing InnoGear dropped the ball on.

2) I knew the module was only going to be good for music, and I shouldn't even bother with trying to store e-books, etc. on the cards, but even in playing music, I ran into problems - the hardware buttons didn't always respond (and I know there's nothing defective about them), and for some reason, some songs would just abruptly stop, as though they weren't ripped completely (which they were). Also, MiniJam would cause my Prism to turn itself on RANDOMLY when it rested in its cradle.

3) Even with 96 MB, there's still not enough playtime to fill my needs (in this case, my work day) - which is why if I decide to get another MP3 player, I'm probably going to get one of the new RioVolt models. It's 100% Mac compatible, and who can argue with 650mbs of music?

Of course, all this leads me to a point - I now have an extra MMC card on my hands. Here's the link to my "for sale" post...

Now, more than ever, I wish a SoundsGood 2 would hit the market. I'll never understand why Good turned their back on a growing customer base.

Ok..Innogear is off my list too! thanks!

Its also surprising how rabidly anti-Mac certain developers/companies can be . Instead of a simple "I don't know" they go out of the way to bash Macs and the "lack of software" for them. I keep wondering how our company managed for 6 years without using Windows...and we are NOT a graphics/publishing company!
