-- Quick Win98 USB Hotsync fix? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2027)
After following the advice I found here to delete the USB Root Hub and reboot when having trouble Hotsyncing, I had always been able to Hotsync at least once per reboot. This morning, I decided to try something quicker, and to my surprise it worked.
Instead of deleting the USB Root Hub via Regedit, I went into Device Manager and used the Remove button to delete the device. Then I selected Computer at the top of the tree in Device Manager and clicked the Refresh button. The USB Root Hub was redetected immediately, and my next Hotsync was successfull! This is still annoying, but not nearly as annoying as having to reboot.
Hope this works for other folks,
Laura
Thanks for the suggestion. However, it is not a cure for my problem. I have not been able to get a sync via the USB port EVER. USB port is working fine. Visor is not. No matter what is tried. It seems to work fine in a serial cradle. I'm still looking for that magic button solution.

Hackmaster is the problem. I haven't loaded it since. Also, I have found that if you are using a program that uses the IR port (i.e. OmniRemote or PalmRemote) this will also affect Hotsync. go figure. One last comment, USB is not all it is cracked up to be.
