-- Auto sync? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15282)

Cool

Hypothetically speaking, or wait, maybe not...
Is there a way that I can get my Visor to automatically sync, say, at 7:30 AM before I leave for classes? And if so, does my PC need to be on?

Not in any way that I'm familiar with. The PC would definitely have to be on, otherwise your visor would have nothing to communicate with.

There is an app called, appropriately, AutoSync which will do what you want. The pc must be on for this to work. Autosync comes with BackupBuddy which is worth every penny.

Yes you can auto sync your Visor. There is a software called AutoSync 1.5. It will sync your computer at predetermined times every day or just that days you want.

Works really well, I've been using it for 1-1/2 years now.

But your computer will having to be running, otherwise there is nothing running for it to sync to.

here's the link....

There is also one called Warmsync. http://www.palmgear.com/software/an...oftwareflag=yes

I had an identical problem. If you have a Windows PC, I can tell you how to make it turn on automatically every morning.

When you boot up, enter the BIOS settings. There, you find a setting to turn it on every morning. That has worked fine for me, but autosync hasn't. I set it, but since it tries to sync every 8 hours, it's stuck telling me it couldn't sync overnight, therefor, not able to sync. I end up having to press the button on the cradle. No biggie.

Also, your visor would have to be in its cradle all night, supposedly causing battery drain. I haven't noticed any additional drain, though.

FYI... Not all BIOS have this feature. Many older BIOS didn't have a power-on feature built in.

The Visor, VDx, and Platinum do not experience any battery drain in the cradle as long as they're OFF. In a USB cradle, there is a small amount of drain whenever the Visor is on, but it's minimal.

Not all motherboards support this feature (and it's not part of Windows).

Surprising...and incorrect. Don't leave the Visor, Visor Deluxe, or Visor Platinum in the cradle unless hotsyncing. Theoretically and quite factually the Visor is never 'off.'

Yes, the battery problem is still alive. They hit rechargeables especially hard

"But I had half a battery left last night!? Oh dang! Accidentally left it in the cradle."

Actually incorrect again. As long as the visor is not powered up while sitting in the cradle, then it is not consuming any more power then it normally does while turned off. Yes, you are correct the Visor is never "off", just in a standby mode, but while sitting in the cradle (turned off or "in standby") it is not consuming more power then normal.
Mark statement was completely accurate. Read the article that Mark refers to. I've confirmed this with Handspring tech support.

Article or not. Base your point on experience if you like. Matthew Nichols and I have experienced the result with different models. Results will vary. Handspring Tech support should tell you so.
