OK, I received my Visor Deluxe yesterday. The invoice that came along with it shows that the unit (before tax, shipping, etc) was $269! I thought they were $249.99? Did anybody get charged the same way?

did you order it with the serial cradle or an extra? if so, that is probably the difference in cost.

If you are in CA then you got charged sales tax along with shipping (minimum is about $6) That is why you weren't charged $249 even.

If you ordered a USB cradle with serial port then that will be USD20.00 extra. That was amount I was charged when I ordered mine online.

I placed an order for a Visor Deluxe an a 8MB module on 9/14 and added a serial cradle (& changed shipping to priority) a week later ($ 250 + 80 + 20 + 10 = $ 360). My CC was charged for $397.35 on 10/16. Customer service has confirmed that they do not add tax to shipments in Iowa (which is where I live). To add insult to injury, I am told my order shipped on 10/16 (as a priority package) but I have not received the shipment till this afternoon.

Yeah, the $269 is without the additions. All the shipping, tax, and serial cradle things are ON TOP of the $269. I tried to call them but gave up after hours of on-hold music. I sent an email to their customer support.

I just wanted to drop another note. I finally got through to Handspring via phone. I spoke to Fiona and she took my number down and said that she'd call me back as soon as she researched it. She called me within 5 minutes and said that they'll credit me the $20 overage plus make the necessary adjustments to the tax. Yahoo! A good CSR story.

Ed, I'm glad you got that error worked out!

Humm...I'm going to have to check my invoice when I get my unit. It appears my cc was charged over >$300 and that seems high:

249 + 20 (xtra cradle) + 16 (styli) +7 (s+h) = $292
maybe they made the same error in my case or they put in tax (I'm in VA)

Well, I got my graphite Visor Deluxe today, the invoice was for $255.95 (249+6.95).

If inquiring about your order, invest a couple of bucks in a long distance call and phone the customer service # listed on the Handspring website. You'll get right through. The 1-888 # is for new sales.

My Visa has (2) pending authorizations for $276, plus an additional (4) authorizations for $1, ALL from Direct Marketing. At this rate I'll be out of credit by the end of the week!
