Is my Edge dead?
Need to know if it's fixable.
Placed on the cradle, looks like it charges then it stops within 10 min. Green light glows and powers up ONLY on the cradle.
It will NOT when it's off the cradle. Soon as I take it off it goes off.
I think the battery needs replacing. Any Ideas?
You need to do an in-cradle reset:

are you sure you're looking at the right hole? the reset hole should be well above the cradle. I've done cradle resets on my wife's edge several times, and the cradle is nowhere near in the way.

Maybe mine is a reject, but I'll place mine into the cradle and the hole is blocked, maybe I can kinda lift it out a little to where the contacts are hitting. There's only one tiny hole back there so there isnt any other.
I've done resets that way with the ol deluxe i have cause the hole is up higher('course it's a different design overall tho)..
If push comes to shove and anything I do doesnt work, im going to open the back and check connections and if those look good I'll get a new battery.
If you went to the Handspring site that I listed, it said at the bottom:

Visor Edge instructions
It can be tricky to perform this operation with a Visor Edge since the reset hole is below the back of the cradle when your handheld is correctly seated.
The trick is to rotate the handheld very slightly clockwise (assuming you are looking at the front face of your handheld) until you can see the reset hole appear over the back of the cradle. If your charge light is functioning (sometimes it won't be when the recharging circuitry needs to be reset) you can use it as a guide: don't move it so far that it is no longer lit. Then perform the soft reset.
If you have an Edge travel charger, the operation is much simpler as the charger does not block the reset hole. If you find this procedure too difficult to perform on your own, you might find a second pair of hands from a willing volunteer can help.

Another option, if you are using LauncherIII, go to Menu/Options/Warm Reset while your Edge is in the cradle.
Gotta be the battery
I did this in cradle reset, i let it try an charge..I watch the little battery indicator on the screen go from full ~ empty ~ full..with 3-5 seconds between alternating. Still won't stay on off the charger cause it's obviously not charging.
Time for a new battery.
