Lightbulb visor won't turn on in morning

hello. my visor will not turn on after not using for about 5-10 hours. the only way to turn it on is with a soft reset. i am using normal alkaline batteries. i have not download any applications and i dont even have a sync cradle yet. the only extra app i have is hardball, which a friend beamed to me. i dont think that hardball is the problem. my data is not lost after the soft reset however. when i hit the reset button i see the palm logo and then i am at "home." could it be the DRAM problem i am hearing about? if not, is there a fix?

Question RE: Visor won't turn on in the morning

A couple of things come to my mind as I read your article...

1) How much of a charge do your batteries currently have? They may be running low.

2) Have you tried putting in brand new batteries?

thanks for replying. i am not using rechargable batteries. they have about 85% left. yes i have tried using new batteries. also, after the soft reset, the battery level is the same as when i turned it off. it always happens.

I went through this w/ a friend's VDX. It sounds like the same symptoms.

I traded it for a new one (have an instant exchange warranty) and the new one did it also.

I slicked the new one clean and installed only what I had to. It works fine.

I suggest you try soft resets, hard resets, backup and restores and will probably end up fixing it by slicking the unit and re-installing software slowly. You will eventually find out what is hanging it up.

good luck,

how could i get handspring to give me a new one? also could it be a problem with the battery type? i am using Maxell "Alkaline Ace" batteries.

uh, probably be pretty hard as they are not making them anymore.

Batt type should not be an issue.

it says on this page that they will repair and return it for free. i think i registered it on the website like a week ago. does that mean i am under warranty? how could i find out?
