-- I just fixed my Visor (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=486)

I got tired of looking at my crooked screen...So I tore open my Visor and adjusted the position of my LCD. My suspicions that the screen was assembled crooked were true!

The moment I popped open the back of the unit...BOOM! there it was, crooked as a jaybird. The neon colored LCD border was clearly not running paralell with the plastic case. I delicately grabbed the lower right corner and ever so gently pulled it to the left and VOILA!

I must admit I am more than a little proud of myself for fixing someone else's mistake, however that emotion is easily overcome with the sad awareness of the sloppy workmanship of the assembly of my unit.

Thank you for the FIX, I hope it is easy for anyone else that has such problems.

However, I think the blatent sarcasm, and cynicism about Handspring should cease. They are new company and are expected to have some temporary errors.

On the otherhand, if it were my Visor, I would have been greatly upset to, but, I would not have felt the need to post a message about the "Sloppy Craftsmanship of the unit"... Could it be it happened during shipping? I have no clue, I am still one of the many awaiting it. How is it?

If you have any other problems with your unit don't tell the techs that you opened it..it may void your warranty.

I think you should change the topic line that any child can figure out and shouldn't even have to see it!

After adjusting the screen, I no longer have such a noticable streaking problem either. I think the streaking was caused by the thin wire cable that connects the LCD unit to the motherboard. I moved it over to the side away from the onboard contrast control. It was making contact with the sensor.

caedmon...

New or not, there really isn't much excuse... Don't forget they have done this before under another company name and the road was never this bumpy!

This is my first PDA so, I guess I cannot comment on Palm's service. I am just so excited to get my Visor Deluxe, I get uptight at the many reports of problems...Who knows.. maybe I will be the same way if mine has defects... But I will be silent about them.

Moose, I think you can't change topic lines once you post it. I tried to do it once and couldn't.

I should mention that in spite of my first bad experience with the Visor(Graphite), I still love it! In fact my second Visor(Blue)should arrive in a week or two. If I didn't like it, I would have cancelled my remaining orders and told HandSpring to go to hell!

In fact to show you how crazy I am about the Visor, I even ordered another one last night(Orange). I didn't like the graphite as much as I thought I would. It looks kind of cheap and it shows dust very easily against the black. I find myself constantly brushing and polishing the thing. Could be that's why Palm went with Grey for it's cases. Maybe I'll end up selling it on ebay.
