-- What kind of batteries do people use? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8007)
Does anyone out there use rechargable batteries for their Visor? What kind, and what kind of performance do you get with them? So far I only tried quality alkalines (Duracell Ultra) and I'm been through a few sets already, so I'm thinking of using rechargables. I know they don't last as long, but if it means I don't have to go buy batteries as often and I don't generate as much waste, I could make the sacrifice...
Ni-Cad probably have a too low voltage, Ni-MH might work, and I'm not sure about rechargable Alkalines.
So let's hear it, anyone?
I use Energizer ACCU Rechargables (NiMH) -- I purchased two pairs back in December when I got my Visor and still use'em .. I have been changing them weekly, which for me consist of about 6 hotsyncs, 4-6 hours of stowaway keyboard usage and about another 3 or so hours of misc usage (avantgo, games, datebook, etc..) -- however, I haven't gone under 40% (usually quite a bit higher) so I could probably go several more days (possibly 2 weeks).
In anycase, it has been working great for me. I switch them on Saturdays (one set goes into the visor, the other set goes on the charger) and life is good. To be cautious, I do carry around two sets of nonrechargables as a backup (haven't had to use them yet..) -- if you do a search on batteries on this forum, you should find some rather lengthy discussions regarding battery life with various modules, batteries and usage.

I use NexCell NiMH with the Maha charger. I usually don't pay attention to how long they last because I change them according to % life left. I usually use my visor a lot during the day for work and/or just reading a book, so I change the batteries at about 50% whether they've been in for a week or a day. That's the main reason I went with rechargables in the first place. I don't like the oops factor of suddenly getting the low batt alarm when my workday is just starting.
