In Preferences | General, I have turned off System sound, Alarm Sound & Game sound.

But I still notice that the Visor Beeps on the hour.

Does any other setting need to be turned off ?

thanks.

I don't think the Visor "beeps" on the hour. Are you using any 3rd-party clock or calendar program that might be causing this?

Nope. Dont have any other programs. Cleaned out my Visor, after it started having all those "Fatal Error" problems. Dont even have Hackmaster now.

Could it be the Preferences from DateBook ?
I dont have Alarm Preset checked there. Will Visor beep for an appointment if Alarm Preset is not checked ?

thanks,

How did you "clean out" your Visor? Deleting the apps or performed a hard reset? If the former, how did you delete the apps and how are you checking?

If the latter, you have a unit none of us have (and probably should be replaced).

The Visor (or more accurately, the ROM-based PalmOS applications, including the Handspring-licensed CityTime and DateBook+) do not have any facilities to perform an hourly chime.

The alarm preset in Datebook/Datebook+ will not force the Visor to beep; all it does is set an alarm for you for any new event you create. However--

If you used DateBook+ and have configured the alarms to remind you a lot (say, 100 times), and you inadvertantly created an event, didn't acknowledge it when it went off, and changed your default DateBook back to the original DateBook, the DB+ alarm reminder will still fire (at top interval of 30 minutes--- although I think you can tell it to remind every hour on the acknowledgement screen).

If you deleted apps instead of performing a hard reset, do this:

Go into DateBook+ and from the Days view, go to Options->Alarm Preferences and view the settings there.

Better yet, if you do see settings there that aren't what you expect it to be, look further down and select the "Alarm Info" button and bring up the list of alarms that are snoozed....and delete them from the datebook.

i don't see that 'Alarm Info' button? I check both Datebk+ and Datebk.

I don't have this problem but got interested by the idea that i might be able to check a list of upcoming alarms.

Are you using Datebk4 perhaps?

yes, indeed. My bad-- I grabbed one of our test Visors and it had Db4 installed. The slimmed down DateBook+ does not have such a snooze-review feature (I couldn't find it)...it looks like one would have to find each appointment and literally delete or modify it to disarm a snoozed event.

Or say to heck with it all and perform a Hard Reset and start with a clean DateBook (no restoring of that data from backup).
