-- Trouble Syncing Categories between Visor and Outlook (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9373)
I just got a new computer (with Windows ME). I knew to backup my Visor with my backup module, and to sync using "handheld overwrites PC" on the first hot sync using the new computer, so that my data would get synced into Outlook 2000. None is assigned a category, though. I remember somewhere there is an option to use the handheld category as the Outlook category, but I can't find it. Can anyone help?
Answer Found!
Thanks to something in a different posting on this board, I learned to go to the FAQ at http://www.chapura.com, where I found the following:
If you are using PocketMirror version 3.0 Standard:
1. Go to "PocketMirror Settings" by clicking Start/Programs/PocketMirror/PocketMirror Settings.
2. From the Chapura Settings screen, select the handheld user name you wish to edit, and click on the Settings button.
3. From the Change Synchronization Preferences screen, select the Outlook application you wish to edit, and click on the Change button.
4. From the "Preference Settings for Outlook screen, select the Categories/Folders topic.
5. From the Categories/Folders screen, select how PocketMirror will synchronize your categories/folders. The options are: "Handheld category = Outlook's 'Categories' field", "Handheld category = user-defined field 'PalmPilot' category", or "Handheld category = Outlook folder" (The last option, "Handheld category = Outlook folder" is a feature which is only available with PocketMirror 3.0 Professional.)
6. Exit PocketMirror, and synchronize.
(See the PocketMirror Help topic "Categories/Folders" or "Category Mapping" at Start/Programs/PocketMirror/PocketMirror Help, for more details about these options.)
I'm assuming you're talking about PocketMirror? If so, that setting should be in the PocketMirror Settings available either through the PocketMirror folder in the Start menu, or from the PocketMirror icon on the Outlook toolbar.
