-- flipcover (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11136)
Just placed an order for a flipcover. I cannot wait to rid myself of this leather cover I now own. Too bulky! The flipcover will make the Visor compact and easier to transport. It looks to have a great fit with the Visor.
I can hardly wait as well! I placed my order in the beginning of Jan. and I hope that they will begin shipping soon. The fit looks very secure, I guess that we will find out when we get them.
Worth the wait
I got mine about a 1.5 wks ago. No more Palm Flip cover envy.
Flipcover has arrived!
My Flipcover arrived today. It was worth the wait!!! Great fit with the visor. Mine is blue and the color is a perfect match. I love the low profile it gives me. I did not want all the bulk of a leather cover. Great piece of engineering. Those of you waiting will not be disappointed.
Glad to hear you like the cover!!!
The leather cover Hansdpring gives is pretty bad, but it can be good for protection if you know your Visor is going to take a beating.
FYI .. Notice that because of our flipcover's low-profile your Visor will still fit in the orginal Handspring case.
Happy flipping.

Has Anyone Compared This One With Tactilis?
See title.
I have compared the flipcover to the Tactilis. The flipcover's cover goes all the way over to fold against the back. I do not think the tactilis does. The flipcover snaps at the bottom, the tactilis does not. The flipcover when snapped shut does not bend or move, the Tactilis folds down but is not as secure. The hinge the flipcover is suprisingly rugged. You can hold the Visor by the cover and move it back and forth without it coming loose from the Visor. I have a blue Flipcover and the blue cover makes the Visor look sharp. The engineering in the Flipcover is far superior. The Tactilis cover depresses when shut and does not have the snap to close. As you can see I much prefer the Flipcover. You can't go wrong with the flipcover!
re: Tactilis Flip Cover
My family (wife, son & myself) all have the Tactilis Flip Covers. (On two Prisms and a Deluxe.)
http://www.tactilis.com/
I like it better because you can insert a Springboard without removing the flip cover. It even works on my Visorphone!

Azdeadwood, do you think it can accommodate the Minstrel S modem too? What about the Minijam? Do you have the Tactilis FlipLid for the Prism -- or the Palm reproduction?
Thanks!

these are the advantages and disadvantages i found in the flipcover and the tactilis flip-lid.
flipcover:
1) snaps shut at the bottom
2) fits snugly with the visor
3) can flip 360 degrees to rest flat against the back of the visor
4) currently not very module friendly (essentially uses a modified dummy module with part of the hinge built in; not a problem for those who hardly switch or use modules)
5) adds no additional bulk as opposed to using the original hard cover
flip-lid: (note: the flip-lid is currently not available, so i can't really comment on it, so the following describes the palm iii replica lid that tactilis is selling)
1) easy one-hand operation
2) fits with many modules
3) only flips about 120 degrees or so
4) has the tendency of falling back down (at least in my own experience)
5) adds bulk to the unit (in both width and thickness)
6) the palm iii lid is terrible with the visor (i have to be honest here); it was not made for the visor and it shows; hopefully, tactilis can start shipping the better fitting flip-lid soon
i personally do not use the tactilis solution because it adds too much bulk to the unit and (i'm sorry sastian), but it looks pretty bad with the palm iii lid on it and i was pretty disappointed with it. there is a huge ugly gap between the lid and the unit. since i'm pretty rough with my visor, i'm sticking with the flipcover because i think it protects the visor better and i hardly use any modules.
i'm sure there are many people out there that disagree with me about this, but these are just my personal opinion, and i'm sure when tactilis puts out the flip-lid, it'll be a great product. but for now, i just don't think the tactilis solution, using the palm iii lids, cut it.
I just got my Flipcover. I'm actually kind of disappointed. I was under the impression that the cover snaps to the back too. Was that just wishful thinking or did I read that somewhere?
All your base are belong to us!
not a problem. we are working our tail off to provide the best lid possible. Shoot me an email and I'll send you a beta peice for testing once its available. i apreciate candid feedback
thanks!

flipcover
I just received my flipcover in the mail today.
It is great. It is the cover that the Visor should have come with in the first place. The snap-on cover seemed a little less than a perfect cover. It worked but, you always had to put it someplace. The flipcover solves this problem, the cover just hangs off the back.
The only drawback might be the attachment to the springboard slot. I figure that if I am using a module I do not need the cover on anyway, so a small issue.
Thank you
Thank you all for the positive feedback. It makes all our hard work worthwhile.
sbuchholz - Next week we'll be accepting orders on our current adapter and will be announcing a new adapter that will work with ALL oversized modules ... There won't be a need to switch out the flipcover anymore

For Prism
When will there be a flip cover that matches the color of the Prism? It puzzles me that you only have a color in black and all Prisms are in cobalt blue.

Personally, I would like a cobalt blue one too but I don't think I'd be that keen to buy a painted one.
Cobalt blue ???
The short answer is we haven't gotten a good enough color match yet to make us feel comfortable with the cobalt blue.
We have been trying to get a color match between our injection molded plastic and the painted Prism but the surface finishes and crispness of the two are far too different.
It is looking like that the only way to have an elegant match between Prism and flip cover is if the flip cover is painted like the Prism. The two issues with painting are $$$ and DURABILITY.
We released a black Prism FlipCover because many people have emailed us informing us that they want this color. We are also planning to release an ice Prism FlipCover in the near future.

A little calamine lotion for your itch
This week we will start taking orders for the flat FlipCover adapter. (I'd tell you a day but if we end up being a little late I'd get the 3rd degree
) This adapter lets you use our flipcover with flat modules like the backup module, 8MB module, game modules, etc ...
Also, this week we will be making an announcement about an adater we developed that will work with ALL springboard modules!!!
