-- Do you let others use your Visor? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12708)
I'm just curious to know how many of you are comfortable letting other people use your Visor. Do you let them play games...or mess around with it to see if they like it...etc... Whenever I let someone even hold mine, I feel like an overprotective parent who needs to have her baby back in her arms NOW!! Am I the only crazy one?
No
No way, jose. Hands off my Visor.
I thought "PDA" meant Personal Data Appliance. I take "personal" personally. Keep your grimy fingers off my Visor! ;-)

Once in awhile. My wife -- she likes the Vegas Slots game and since I have a Prism, she can use it to play the slots in color. That's it. Never anything more.

I put on an initial valiant effort to be gregarious with the visor and let others look at it. Eventually, however, I am forced to snatch it from their paws in the pretense of showing them some feature. Then, it quickly gets turned off and put safely away.
During my last vacation, I let my 11-year old cousin play games on my Deluxe. Everyone else was only allowed to "look" at it. I guess I trust him more than most adults.

I thought I wanted a career, turns out I just wanted paychecks.
I tend to let nobody but me touch my precious Prism.
The theory is: if I let somebody else play with it, and they drop and break it, it is guaranteed that somebody is going to be unhappy about it. If I force them to pay for it, they will be unhappy. If I grit my teeth and pay for it myself, I'll be the one that is unhappy.

For me, it depends on who it is. I let a co-worker play with it, but being a fellow techie, I trust her. I let my 12 year old son play with it, but he knows Mom will bury him under a rock somewhere if anything happens to "Tonin" (yes, my VDX has a name, but that's another thread
). Handing Tonin off to anyone else gives me a clear case of the Willies.

No flippin way.
I let people use my deluxe, but never will
I let them use my Prism again. Before I ever
let anyone touch my Prism again, I am going to
ask them "have they ever used a pda before?" I
"ONCE" let someone use my Prism in front of me,
I almost had a heart attack when they took the stylis
and press down on the screen like they were trying to
see if they could push it all the way through the
Prism.
Sure I let people use my Visor, if they're curious about it. I'm fairly social, not very materialistic, and not very uptight (I don't even use screen protectors or cases!). I've let my PDAs (Newtons, Palms and Visors) be handled by dozens of people, and I've never had a single problem. If they're the sort of people that seem too irresponsible to handle another person's possessions with care, I wouldn't let it out of my hands in the first place.

I Love My Prism!
My big problem is in school, other kids just grab the Visor off my desk, out of my hands, but what really drives me nuts is that they even grab it out of my pockets!

I'm pretty open about letting people play with my Prism. When I first got it I was a little anal but since then I've mellowed quite a bit. About 7-8 friends play with it on a daily basis and occasionly I'll let a stranger look at it. My theory behind the whole process is that if (worst case scenario) someone drops it and the case comes loose, or the screen starts flickering, I can always get a free replacement from HS.

The only people I let use my visor have been my parents, my older brother, and my friend who also had a visor (all of whom have the money and would pay me if they broke it). No one else is allowed to touch it, ever. I know that if they broke it they would not pay for it, and I don't want to take that chance, especially since I bought it with my own money and not my parent's money.
Sometimes I let my close friends who own other palms to play with it, but after that NOBODY gets to touch my proecious Prism.

i used to let people see my visor deluxe until finally this really cute girl asked to see it, stupid i said yes, she dropped it and shattered the screen, i dont let people mess with my new IIIc now
Heh, cute girls always get to see my Prism!
I let peopel I know well use it sometimes, they just play games on it. If it weren't for other people I probably wouldn't buy screen protectors. I had a defective Visor once and I let someone I was kinda friends with play a couple of games on it before I sent it back, he has 5 giant sratches on it within a minute.
True Story!:Anyone here play Zillionare? Its a game like Millionare on TV but for the Palm OS and it goes up to a Zillion. My friend and I would play it during history class and the teacher found out. For about two weeks he end his lectures 15-30 minuts early just so he could play the game! He also has us watch a lot of movies in that class and he would always ask to play Zillionare while the movie was on, along with this student aid & this girl who is moving soon. Because I claimed I couldn't take notes without my Visor he made me exempt from them & made everyone else do it. It was really great. He would also really get into the games though, and cheat by using his big world map or call other teachers in the school.
