for the price of the new palms you might as well get a pocket pc
Why should we buy what you "had" to buy? To justify the fact that you bought it?
I'm very happy using my Prism and don't need to change. Since I use my five different modules and a stowaway frequently, I fine it useful for me. Typing notes on that thing you have would be impossible for me. I also don't need/want connectivity.
Then what do I know? I live in a 140 year old "obsolete" house, drive a 12 year old "obsolete" sports car and am still married to the same woman after all these years (even though there are newer models available).
I think I'll stick with what works for me and let others pay too much for the newest thing.
Thanks for making technology cheaper for my kids!
Michael

Oh just stop it will you? Do you go down town and hang around different churches trying to convince people that their religion is wrong and that they should convert to yours? Does your religion have a newer book making it better? How dare you get on a high horse and scold people for using simple analogies after you compare PDA processors to GHz pentiums. Just stop your Palm crusade and go away alreay.
Whoa, I'm sorry. I just read your profile and learned that I am dealing with a 15 year old. Don't worry son. You'll grow up some day and learn some understanding.
I second that!!!!!

Nothing new--
It seems that as PPC is gaining in market share, Palm OS is gaining on PPC capabilities--- Especially with the new Tungsten--
We all get what we want--never when we want it--but eventually in a market driven economy--
Stability is what keeps me with Palm OS--- I worry if this is compromised by the new PalmTungsten capabilities--If I wanted PPC I would get PPC-- Time will tell--
After mentioning this a certain--
"TUFFGUY" (from another website) reminded me that the Palm Tungsten is nothing new--new to Palm OS as OS five is new to Palm--But nothing that hasn't been done via PPC for quite some time--
If Palm is Sooooooooo much better than HS--Than we should all go to PPC and forget about all this hairsplitting--
I too use older machinery as long as it does what I want and need (aside--I still use an old Zeos MS Pen OS for word-processing because of its great keyboard and PCMCIA ports)
-- HS and the Springboard platform are doing wonders for me and my company right now and I have had NO trouble maintaining and upgrading the machines to do exactly what I want-- with no stability problems--
As Palm reaches--early-- into the PPC capability enviornment -- stability will suffer-- I'll wait a bit until Palm or PPC have something I need--Not something I "need to play with".
AND if we're going to go Palm vs HS -- HS is way ahead with the Treo compared to the new Palm Tungsten wireless unit--At least according to virtually all reviewers-- Palm is playing catch up in that arena--and so far losing
I use all the old Springboard modules in our business--recorders--UPC scanners--Financial computational engines--backup mods for cloning--modems--and still have acess to cf/sm/sd/mmc cards through FlashPlus and MemPlug--
If I had only one PDA and didn't have to run a business that uses them--I would consider taking a chance on every new minor (marketing-alleged) improvement-- As it is I'll wait untill a new platform or unit does something I need and can count on--
We're so far behind we still use Windows ME--(GOSH)
You are right.
Yes. This is getting out of hand and I appologize for my role in helping it along. I guess I get all fired up when I witness intollerance and disrespect toward others. JeffDewber, I am sorry for the disrespect I have shown toward your age.

quote:Interesting analogy. FWIW, I'm still using a P200MMX. It's my print server, and it works like a champ. I'm sure that for someone needing a basic PIM, the same would hold true of even the original Visor Solo.

I officially resign my self using visorcentral again. I apologize if I offended anybody. Also please do not discredit me for my age. Just remember 60% of today's youth may become your bosses someday. Also I hope your visors live long and prosper!!
Thank you!!

Let's hug and make up.
Don't leave, just don't try to convert people or imply that they are morons for continuing to use their prefered PDA.
As for the comment about your age, I have already apologized. I am well aware that I will have a younger boss some day. But I doubt that he or she will be 15 when they do become my boss.
By the way, which Tungston is it that you use in your avatar? I went to palm's web page and could only find the nifty hiding grafity "T" model.
Thanks!! Some of you have inquired about what my avatar is. It is a Tungsten W. If you are interested in these models check at the links!!

Why all the anti-Palm sediment among Handspringers? Yes I know the history of the Jeff Hawkins ordeal, but that is water under the bridge. I've liked Visors just as much as Palms but have always ended up with a Palm because of deals at the time. I have yet to have a bad experience and I'm on my third model.
I just hear a lot of I'd rather go PPC then buy a Palm and I don't understand why.
We are not being anti-palm

I have nothing against palm. but I wanted the keyboard and got a treo.
Hi Guys,
Just wanna share my PDA story, it's similar to Jeffdewber's. I'm only 16 now, but I've learned a lot about money and PDAs over the past two years in my experiences with them.
I started out with a Palm IIIc, and it was great unit, but being young and naive, I had to have the "newest and coolest" thing out. It took me a while, but I was able to save up enough money to buy the new Sony Clie N710C. It was an awesome unit, but as some of you know, mine was stolen in November of last year. From there, I went on to a Visor Edge, and finally to a Rex 6000. Yet though all these changes, I started to realize that my PDA habits were costing myself A LOT of money and wasting more time than increasing productivity. I was playing games and MP3s, loading it up with new software, more than using it to organize my life.
This year is my junior year, and its crucial I get everything I need to get done, done. With the money I had left, I bought an IBM z50 off eBay and a Visor Deluxe. My setup cost about $250, and it is BETTER than any new PDA out there for my uses. The z50 is awesome for note taking, no one can match my speed and details in notes
. It's also great for recording my clarinet playing to hear details in my music. The Visor, while old, works fine for organizing everything and killing time when I'm bored.
I suppose, sometimes, the older things will work just fine, if not better since there's not so much hype around it, and you can actually get things done. I spend more time using it as a PDA, rather than a toy nowadays.
To all you young people out there aspiring to have the "next best thing" and look the coolest at your high school. Forget it. Save the money for college, and buy a lower end unit and use it for what it was made for

VisorForums
This reminds me how this forum is one of the PDA best discussion boards on the net, second to none (that I've seen).
Keep it up people, show what a real discussion board is supposed to be like.
I may keep visiting here even after I've switched brands.
