There is a 3.1.1 patch from Palm Computing.
http://www.palm.com/custsupp/downloads/upd311.html

It works fine on my visor.

It fixes some screen streaking problems and some other things...

It didnt' cause any problems for me. (But then again, it didn't seem to do anything ELSE for me either.)

This software upgrade is ONLY for Palm "Connected" organizers. It won't do a thing for you on your Visor except possibly cause problems.

It only fixes 2 problems. Screen streaking, and scroll button activation on an Alarm. Niether of which affects the Visor.

Not true. I had screen streaking until I installed 3.1.1. So it does appear to work on the Visor.

Exclamation

This is important: DO NOT for any reason install the Palm OS v 3.1.1 or any other updates on a Visor!!! The visor should come with Palm OS v3.01H That H is there because Handspring did several things to the OS including:
-Removing delay states, thus increasing speed by 58%
-Adding USB HotSync support
-Adding Euro Currency symbol.
It is also supposed to have fixed the streaking problem. I have 3.01H and haven't had any problems with my Visor. I would suggest contacting Handspring dirrectly if you think you need an update.

Actually, the Visor uses PalmOS 3.1; the 3.01h is the version number of the built-in apps.

I have update 3.1.1 on my Visor Deluxe; no problems yet (no noticeable benefits, either).

Correct about the enhancements by Handspring. However, they don't make the update incompatible.

Petro,

Are you mixing up OS flash updates with OS patches? The 3.1.1 patch does not actually directly modify the 3.1H OS. The patch sits in RAM not ROM, and can be erased at a later date if you wish.

And yes, you are running 3.1H, not 3.0.1H. There is no 3.0.1H in fact. Tom is correct.

Red face

I installed 3.1.1 on my VDX and it screwed the calculator Is there anyway to get it back??? Its the default calc thats on the original ROM nt handsprings updated one...

Rather odd, that...I have the update installed but no calculator problems. (Anything added to RAM shouldn't affect a ROM program anyway...) What is the calculator doing or not doing?
Try deleting the update if you haven't already.

I had the 3.1.1 patch installed for a while, but I noticed the same thing that PIII owners also reported- instead of screen streaking (which, personally, I never had) I noticed an annoying flickering instead.

Removing the patch (forget if I had to soft reaet or not) fixed the problem.

Petro,

Handspring's FAQ says you can install the patch.
